Default improving at FFR

I know, everyone says that the best thing to improve FFR is more FFR, however this may not be true. Is it possible that certain types (sp?) of isolation certain techniques would make you improve faster? Perhaps to improve speed it would be best to do steps 1234123412341234 over and over etc. Any of the experts (Hyro, Arch, Llain, Jewpin etc.) have any advice. Thanks

Actually, the way to get better at FFR, is to play Stepmania.

www.stepmania.com

or DWI

yeah, stepmania helped me out a bunch. the arrows move alot slower in stepmania, but are alot closer together. this allows you to work on your combo's and your finger speed, and makes it easier to recognize arrow order.

Wtf?

The arrows in FFR move... jerky for me

Anyways SM is the best simulator. It goes at 65 FPS(the DDR FPS) and is SOOO MUCH BETTER than DWI.

Get SM CVS, it's the best version.

MAX2 skin for it

What hand style do you use to play FFR? When i first started I used one hand and three fingers ( one on right, one on left and the middle for up and down). Then I got better and started using two hands but only with my index fingers. Now I am working on using two hands and using the index and middle finger all for different arrows. Any prfered stlye?

I use my two index fingers.

On songs like payon which were designed to use a certain exact technique I use that technique though

For instance

I'll label the hard parts of payon

The first 32nd note set is a set of

UP+DOWN
LEFT+RIGHT

like 3 times or 4 times

For that I start out with 4 fingers with my index and middle on my right hand on the up and down arrows

And my index on my left on the right arrow, my middle on the left arrow.

Then the second pattern

LEFT+UP
DOWN+RIGHT

like 3 or 4 times

For that

LEFT HAND:index on left, middle on up
RIGHT HAND: index on down, middle on right

(this is also how you can do the end of willothewisp smaniac)

Then

The first huge 32nd note run in payon

I use my two index fingers on that

THEN.. THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL STEP PATTERN OF THE SONG

Left
Up+Down
Down+Right

This can be played two ways, both ways with the left hand index on left

Now, technique 1

Use your index, middle, and ring. Ring on right, index on down, middle on up.

Technique 2

"bounce" your index and middle from the up+down arrow position to the down+right arrow position

Now, for the last run all I do is use my left index and press the jumps with my right middle and index, simple

This is just for payon though. On every FFR song I just use my two index fingers. Except on the end of pwnd, which I forgot how it goes but it's pretty easy.

SM CVS doesn't alt tab without screwing up for me ~ I use 3.0 final because of that.
