Ddr Mat Help >.<
Ouuuqueiii (tis ok, spelled weirdly)
I play DDR at home, SN2 and extreme, but I hate having to replace the cheap soft mats that come with the game. 1. They're flimsy and get holes in them or lose sensitivity really fast 2. They move all over the floor, no matter how "Slip resistant" they are. 3. They're not very... heavy friendly (don't mean weight, I mean song difficulty). Meaning that moving your feet really fast on them equals you screw up because you either start to fold up the mat as you play, or you slip, etc. So my question is, is it worth investing in a metal or hard foam pad? Can anyone suggest a decent brand/pad to me with a link to where I can view it and check prices, stats, etc.? Do hard mats 'fold up' for easy storage when you're not playing? Is it better to get an arcade style mat with the bar attached for those hard ITG songs and songs like PMSO or PARANOiA HADES? I suppose a chair would suffice, but I don't really have any that are the right height hehe. Second, how do I play ITG on my tv? I'm a huge noob in that area; I've got no idea how people play it at home. A finger point in the direction of a help thread for this, or just instructions on here would be nice |

Re: Ddr Mat Help >.<
I don't know much about pads. I have a hard foam redOctane, and I play 8s-9s on it with no problems.

There are a few things you can do for this. 1) Get ITG for the PS2. Play it like normal. 2) Get ITG for PC and hook up a mat (usb or Playstation-USB converter) and hook up PC to TV (VGA TV input if the tv is new, S-video if it is old and your computer has it) 3) Download ITG songs (and lots of other stuff) and do the same as above but with StepMania.

Re: Ddr Mat Help >.<
I would suggest getting a metal pad. The ones I have are good but the company went out of business. I would suggest buying the RedOctane pad. From what I've heard about it there are pretty much next to no problems with it and is greatly worth it. If you can't afford it I would save up.
Also go to stores like EB Games or Gamestop to find ITG. They're very hard to find as they're not made anymore but these pads come with USB so you can hook it up to your computer. |

Get a hard foam pad. I got one from http://buynshop.com a while ago and it worked great for a couple years. (It didn't break, I gave it to a friend)

If you mean the redoctane afterburner (admittedly it looks really cool), that pad also starts to have problems if you play 10+ songs. Nearly every owner of one on DDR freak has had problems with it, from panels constantly shattering to the control box not working to the arrows just not working at all, AND Redoctane has a horrible customer service record. If you're considering an afterburner, spend 50$ more and get a cobalt flux, which is nearly indestructable. Last edited by Fimbulvetr; 06-11-2008 at 03:50 PM.. |

The pad I got zipped open to reveal nine 1-square-foot foam tiles that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. It fits in a backpack.

I don't know about hard-foam pads, but metal pads aren't meant to be stored away easily. Maybe the Cobalt Flux can since it's pretty small and thin.

Re: Ddr Mat Help >.<
id say the cobalt flux would be th best if you have to move it alot and still want a good mat. but the lack of the bar makes it hard to do some expert songs

There are also ways to make a pad homemade, google it. Just takes some supplies (about $50 worth) and a little craftsmanship.
