Help Red become 2pro4u

So I've been around for like 5 years or so on and off and I was up until a few days ago a strict one-hander. I finally decided to give up my quest, after much harassment in multiplayer and the realization that I've only managed 38 FC's and 2 AAA's, to be a great one handed player (Sorry SK8R

) and started playing spread, but I feel like if anything I'm playing worse than I was before...so I turn to you guys/girls:

What are some good layout suggestions? My main issue is that everything I've tried is majorly uncomfortable at this point.
I've tried the following setups: ASKL, QWOP, UIOP, DFJK, XCM, and GH Up and Right arrows.

Also should I change anything else setting related? Speedmod? Scroll? Visual?
I'm currently on 2.5 speed and regular everything else.

Any tips and suggestions would be much appreciated

If you have skype, I can try and train you if you'd like. I've helped train 2 people, one has surpassed me by a mile and the other is definitely getting there.

I can't promise results like D7 by next tourney, though i believe i can help.

qw[] is good and relaxing.
I started training in spread a month ago, I've since stopped, but I got pretty good at it in about 3 days.

Reduce the speed to something extremely comfortable to react to, since you'll be reacting differently now.

All I can recommend is finding files with complicated patterns that you can just do well on. A great file to practise, for a start, would be MAX Forever.

But really it depends on where you were as a One Hander. 38 and 2 isn't very high, so it's kind of amazing that you play at 2.5.

If Standalone - FP9
Framerate = 120
Speed: Whatever is easy for you to discern patterns and for you to react in time (So, don't listen to HasTe_Arcane, he just wants a high speedmod to be cool, but it doesn't work)
As for key setup... Just find whatever is comfortable :P

AND JUST KEEP PRACTICING

You'll, no matter what you try, feel uncomfortable. You'll also suck shit for a while till you adjust. Just understand it will come with just immersing yourself into playing it a lot. Pick a set up around making each hand comfortable. For me since I've played a lot of setups and a lot of styles, I'm comfortable most anywhere after like an hour of practice on it.

My left hand is really the problem. It's not used to being used to play so it hurts and is generally uncomfortable anywhere. Guess the dexterity just isn't there yet. My main issue is with jumps. Anything involving jumps I find myself like massively overthinking what I'm doing.

Actually it was praise and amazement, but I can see how it could be easily misinterpreted so sorry about that.

It'd for the best if you try not to compare your results between different playstyles as they are a lot different.

At this point I think the best would be to work on closing a bit the gap between each hand. You also shouldn't force on your left hand the strain your right hand is used to right away.

I'm actually curious by what you mean by train as I do not see much more than "push yourself harder on [whatever skill] to improve" after a certain skill level.

I just was always told that the faster speedmod the better when I first started out, so I've always stuck with 2-2.7 since

When I first moved to spread I played worse and was uncomfortable. Takes time to adjust. I personally play DFJK because I like my hands a little closer together. Speedmod is really just finding what's comfortable for you.

This so much. Regardless of what you were capable of before, let it go. You'll get there in time, and most likely pass it by a mile. This is how I felt for the longest time after switching to diagonal scroll. But I let it go and decided to just enjoy myself and get the most out of it, and that's what I've been doing since. Improvements have come a long way for me since.

I tried DFJK first, and I feel like I did pretty good with it but someone told me since I have big hands I need a bigger spread? I'm on ERUI right now and I feel like it's a bit better than ASKL but still a bit more uncomfortable than DFJK.
