Default I drew my dog

I'm not the greatest artist, but I love my dog so I scribbled a picture of her.

It's far from finished cause OpenCanvas crashed and I lost a good 40 minutes of work.
Also, I got lazy with the fur cause she wouldn't sit still.
~

Still, I felt like sharing. This sub-forum is pretty dead so I figured any contribution is worthwhile. ^^

It's actually pretty good. Apart from the eye. Something about the eye looks weirdly realistic compared with the rest of the drawing which is more cartoon-like, as if you copy and pasted it from somewhere else.

Yeah haha I noticed, but adding that amount of realism to the rest of it is just too time consuming.
As long as I can look at that face and say "yeah, that's my dog" is all that really matters to me.

edit: tbh, I don't really appreciate you surmising (not sure if that's the right word, "suspecting" is probably better) plagiarism, but I guess it was probably intended as a compliment so thank you.

Cartoon is more my style, but here's the underlying sketch so you can see I did honestly draw that eye.
you sorta can see what I was trying to do; trying more to capture her emotion than to make every other detail as refined as her expression.

she actually looks more depressed at this point though *shrug*

If all that matters to you is that you can look at it then why bother posting it? Surely the point of posting is to get comments and critiques and to try to improve your craft?

Please don't act like a reactive idiot. If I thought you were stealing then I would have said as such (not to mention I wouldn't be stupid enough to accuse someone of plagiarism without proof). All I said was that the eye looks out of place compared to the rest of the drawing.

It wasn't. It was intended as constructive criticism to say that the eye looked out of place and, if re-drawn, would make the picture better in my opinion.

This was my compliment:

I agree, but that sketched eye matches that sketch a lot better than your finished eye matches your finished drawing.

Sorry I sounded defensive dude, but the:

I read it as "It's a distinguishably different style from the rest of your picture, almost like you stole it from someone else and threw it on your dog"

I'm just a fool who says silly things and doesn't think things through; pay it no mind..

The rest is cartoonish in comparison because the program I used crashed when rendering the shitty cloud effect. causing me to lose a good 35-40 minutes of work, the eye didn't stand out nearly as much beforehand. I didn't have the motivation to redo all the finer lines and figured "ehh, it's good enough to bring some activity to that sub-forum on that site I spend too much time lurking"

again, thank you and I'm sorry ^^

No worries. Appreciate the apology.

I know the feeling of losing work. Makes me want to rip my hair out. Though I don't think I ever lost nearly an hour of work so I can only imagine how annoying that is.

By all means if you have any other work I'm sure people would be happy to see it. As I said, you do have an ability to draw so you should continue to embrace it and show it off.

Lol we didn't really use computers when I was still in school, so no. :>

I don't really have anything that isn't anime, anthro or pony. My more realistic pictures are all horses and bulls but they're all on paper unfortunately.
Thanks for the encouragement TRDragon, here's a dragon my little brother suggested to me last night.
Still a while from finished but here's a progress pic; I only spent 20 minutes on it cause Nicholas Cage was on tv.

It's like.. a salamander or komodo dragon or something

Komodo, definitely Komodo.

I'll be working on it some more once I've woken up a little bit :>
