I mentioned this on Facebook, but would anyone have a guess on how many decibels the explosion might have caused?

Lots of exploding in the news recently, both accidental and not.

I wish all who are affected the best possible luck.

lol. Don't worry. I'm no conspiracy nut. :P
If foul play is suspected, I'd expect it to be some psycho like everyone else until proven otherwise.

A jet engine at 100 feet is 140 dB, so probably around 140-170

I'm going to guess 210 based on this. Although it seems relative to how close you are. So I'm going by that video from what seemed like a half a mile.

dang that's nuts i cant even imagine. my left ear cant tolerate more than 75 dB until i get distortion which will turn into pain as it gets louder. right ear is perfectly normal though. i just barely went to an audiologist 2 weeks ago

66 years ago this week, a blast very similar to the one in West happened much closer to home - in Texas City. That catastrophe left 500 people dead.

On a child who sounded quite young, the damage to her hearing might be irreversible. At 195dB Human eardrums rupture. (50% of the time)

http://www.decibelcar.com/menugeneric/87.html little bit less of a cluster imo

So yeah. Ammonium nitrate goes boom above 240 degrees Celsius. That, and it's also the main component of the commercial explosive known as anfo.

Explains a lot, doesn't it?
