Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
I think I've officially decided that unless I am asked my opinion, I'm not going to comment on song difficulties. Too many subjective opinions already and as far as I can tell mine usually gets skimmed over as a "not-so-experienced-player's" point-of-view.
Not mad, lol.

There's no need to be afraid to post your opinion. People are just being too aggressive about it, that's all.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
Not really afraid to, I just don't see the point.
'go play honki and compare' is kind of like telling an experienced runner to go run a long distance and compare it to another distance. He obviously knows how he'll feel after running it, because he does it all the time.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
Halcyon is really high FMO, FN/honki/Lolo/TtE etc. should just be bumped down
/thread (I could write an essay about why but I honestly cbf, and there really wouldn't be much point because swaying people's opinions on shit like this is usually impossible [and rightfully so since every player has their own strengths and weaknesses]) When I find time apart from studying for finals, I'll probably start up that 1-100 difficulty list again, working from VC downwards...anyone who's willing to help out, PM me |

D3s file makes me rage so hard, don't wanna get eliminated on such a stuuupid chart -.- . And yes I know I obviously could not do any better, but my opinion is that this chart is just not fun at all, plus I suck at it :P

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
Not gonna pull a subjectivemania here and ask it to be bumped up, but Halcyon is by far the hardest FMO I have ever played. I just went back and played all the high FMO's and low FGO's after whoring Halcyon for an hour to see if it was just me today, but it's not. For me, Halcyon is the hardest FMO ever, and it's definitely harder for me than most low FGO's. Objectively? It's hard as balls, that's all I'm going to say. The new FGO btw seemed really easy and then it got to the trills and I said **** it so I'm not playing that again for a while trills with jumps be gay. Wiinter is my favorite song and file this time. Bmah, you have once more proven you're the best stepartist on FFR.

Okay, Hacylon is harder than Amen Iraq and pretty much every FMO I've played in this game. <_>
LOL AT BURSTS, great song however.

Why do people think Toxiferious is hard? It's so straightforward, the hardest thing about it are roll walls which can all be jumped. Why I'm good at it is I found that every burst in the whole song, even the weird ones, can be cheated nearly 100% of the time with no split frames except for the final roll wall which has splits but you can get around them. Radical, Anti Ares, Gymnastics, and Ripoff are the caps IMO. But Halcyon is the only FMO I actually can't FC. At all. Some I can't first time, but within 10 or so plays I can FC or mash FC, Halcyon took me forever to FC and still had to resort to mashing. It's just sooo aggressive with those jump patterns and when the bursts comes my fingers stop moving. They are also in patterns that make it extremely hard to jump into and out of, cheating them needs to actually be thought out and not just see burst jump trill it.
Lolo is the simplest FGO I've come across next to Nevada. I thought it was an impossible file, then I mirrored it and the difficulty literally went from a 30 good score with tons of boos and averages to a AAA. It's a strangely designed file that surprisingly puts a ton of pressure on one hand throughout but you don't even realize it. I also agree with OWA, we can either bump all those down, or bump one song up, but yes, those FGO's are the 4 I found comparable to Halcyon. Halcyon is harder for me than a lot of higher FGO's, but objectively, I'd say it sits with FN, Honki, etc.

Just wanted to mention you're naming 12s that a lot of people think should be dropped to 11s. I think OWA actually mentioned them.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
I mentioned OWA in that same post, saying I agree with OWA. I said you can either drop 4 12s to 11s or move one 11 to a 12. They are all borderline and around the same difficulty. The thing is, they are all borderline because they are the hardest FMO's/easiest FGO's, meaning IMO, Halcyon is the current hardest FMO. It's just, as I said, way too aggressive. The jumpstream is fast and dense and has really, really weird patterns and anchors and they never let up, and then they shove bursts at you that result in framers, and none of the patterns are straightforward, you actually have to figure them out.

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
You know, there's something I don't understand:
Why is it people can't just play a file and say they like it or not? Why is it they have to scrutinize every last detail like, for example, let's say it was 1 3 2 4, but the person stepped 4231. Everyone just seems to btich and whine about it and claim that a file is then bad because of it (clearly an exaggeration, but I'm trying to make a point). I don't understand why judges look for correct-ness in a file rather than how fun it is. Shouldn't that matter? I mean, how many new players (and I mean new, not switching from SM) are gonna see the difference, let alone care? Those new players are going to want to play a fun game; they could care less how "correct" it is. I don't think we ever should have invented crap like "PR" or anything like that. Because now that's all people think about when they step. There are very few files that are still being made/being accepted for the fun anymore. There are even less people out there who believe the fun factor is important anymore. To be honest, I think we have less stepartists now not because of the site crash, but because we've scared everyone into thinking that getting their file accepted is all but impossible. I think our judging system (and our way of thinking for stepping) should be completely overhauled and returned to the main idea of fun and entertainment. /mad

Re: FFR 6th Official Tourney Songs Discussion: Round 4
woo boy, after getting a taste of Halcyon by playing for the AAA, I've got to say, that file is WICKED hard for a FMO. I like it though, because it stands out as something that doesn't quite fit as a FGO in structure.
Top of the line FMO, me thinks. SAMBISTA gave me a few problems because backward rolling + up/down arrow beginning = LOL nope. Very high VC. The other files were fun too - I can't decide between Kayla's file and bmah's wiinter dream for the best flowing file; both were really clean. Jumper was alright. Nothing wrong with it, but a bit out of my tastes due to the nature of the song (a bit too simple). |
