Re: How to get better at FFR
I see huge combo's jot down the screen, 50 consecutive notes, how the heck do you read those and hit teh button before it hits the bottom of the screen.
You have to have like an excellent eye to do guru songs

Re: How to get better at FFR
Hehehe, it just takes a lot of practice, it's actually not that hard anymore. I mean, I stare near dead center of the screen, where my combo is, and hit like 1000+ on every song I play.
I've played reverse, it is a bit tougher (I say this because you are saying before it hits the bottom of the screen), but like all most game styles--you have to get yourself used to it. |

Re: How to get better at FFR
Ahh i see, i usually play with the notes moving toward the left but they seem to go faster on this game than what the do going in any other direction

Re: How to get better at FFR
Upscroll and downscroll are actually faster than leftscroll or rightscroll. The FFR game screen is greater in length than in height, so the arrows have more distance to travel to get to the target arrows.

Re: How to get better at FFR
I've noticed I can read and comprehend every step chart in this game, yet I can't get my hands to move as fast as I can read them.
This goes out to all you guru players... was there a certain technique you used to increase your speed, or just plain old try and fail aimlessly until you got it? I think that's pretty much all I need to do to be as good as some of the top ranked people on here ;__; |

Re: How to get better at FFR
just practicing and it helps if you already know how to keep in time with music(or play an instrument) then that way its easier to predict when to press the arrows to get a perfect

Re: How to get better at FFR
That's a very good start, purity. You can start proceeding to the more difficult levels, while remaining in the lower difficulty range to practice your accuracy, while training your ability to read and recognise the familiar and common arrow patterns in the higher difficulty range.

Re: How to get better at FFR
Hmz..one way that I play is that I use this setup...it might work for others as well..guess it would be spread O.o
Left Hand Index finger = Left arrow (arrow keys) Middle finger = Up arrow (arrow keys) Right Hand Index finger = 2 on number pad (down) Middle finger = 6 on number pad (right) I find this more comfortable rather than askl since I can rest my wrist more comforably rather than having my hands ``hover`` over the keyboard or I find askl makes my wrists uncomfortable. Then again, whichever style works for you, go for it ^^ |

Re: How to get better at FFR
If there's like a 121 323 1234321 pattern of 16ths, like in PLANETZ, I usually treat it as 12ths. It's weird but it is surprisingly effective.
It breaks up the choppiness, making the patterns slightly easier to play. Do not try this on slow songs; you will get TONS of goods. Very fast songs WILL garner you loads of misses. The most effective range of BPMs for this tactic is 180-225. Also, you are NOT guaranteed to AAA the song by doing this, however it helps immensely if you find yourself futzing those patterns up. Practice on: Shihen, PLANETZ, 20031023, Torinouta, Legend, FF3 Boss (Yes this works, people! ) etc. Last edited by Cyrenics; 01-18-2009 at 10:50 PM.. Reason: I didn't have enough info kthx |
