Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
For those who wear contacts, how do you manage keeping your eyes open without drying your contacts? Do you wait for a break in the song or do you blink with one eye while playing using the other to play?
I try to wait for a break; if I can't, I'll blink with one of my eyes then vice versa with the other. |

Nope I can keep my eyes open for long periods of time so I can go through World Tour without ever blinking

Just blink. Once you memorize a song enough you should know what keys to hit. During that split-second blink your hands will continue to hit what your eyes don't see.

Simple. I take them out and wear glasses.
But if I'm lazy and keep them in, blink whenever and pray I don't screw up. although there are times when only one effs up and I have to keep one eye shut for a moment while the other stays open. |

I memorize what's on the screen before I blink

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
In general, playing FFR forces you to keep your eyes for unhealthy amounts of time. I try to play without my contacts and put my glasses on. If I don't, after the first few songs my contacts will dry up and it'll be a pain until I can take them off.
Even when I try periodically fast-blinking, it's not enough of a blink for your eyes to feel better and you more often than not lose your concentration and get a few goods than make your eyes feel better. |

It doesn't really bother me unless it's like 8+ minutes.

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
I usually just have no choice but to blink and hope that it doesn't mess up my game. I can usually do it without having to wait for a break. I guess I kinda memorize what's on the screen for that split second of blinking.

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
I always wear glasses when I play FFR. If I play with contacts, I only play a few games for that reason.

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
Um.. I blink like normal. I feel like, sure, I probably blink less when sightreading a song or when it's very arrow intensive, but I just never think about blinking. I probably subconsciously memorize what's on the screen as I blink.
I do prefer glasses to contacts whilst playing though, since contacts drying really forces you to think about your eyes, when you shouldn't have to.

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
I tend to blink when I don't want to. i.e I'll go into a OCD mode where I just have to blink multiple times in a row in the middle of a song, or flex my fingers

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
I blink a lot, but memorize what's on the screen between each blink.
My PA sucks.

Re: Contact wearers: How do YOU play?
I wear silicone contacts, so they breathe easier. I condition myself to blink the least possible, since abusing it while playing will dry your eyes out faster. it's all about focus.
but when it does happen which it inevitably does, I'll switch eye or blink many times in very fast succession so I can still more or less see the screen. |
