Re: MapleStory
Compare boss fights.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iClKs_NUvKo (ps - you can stop watching once they win. Nothing else happens. People just don't know how to edit movies properly and this is the only fight on YouTube) Hardest boss in Trickster currently. A party of 4 of not even the strongest characters killed it in... 15 seconds? I wish we had more epic battles in Trickster. It's kinda depressing. The only challenge comes from soloing, because then you only get your own buffs and debuffs. Even then, I'm the defensive class, so it's rare that a boss kills me. This is what happens when you solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npuziKanURU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAt_R4WRDew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSkJK4J1zvM The thing is, we don't get this 1HP-left thing. If a boss hits you for 15,000 damage and you have 14,999 HP (hard to do... most people have trouble breaking 10k HP), you die. Plain and simple. So while most of these people seem to be surviving quite well, they really only got lucky. They have high Evasion, making them dodge a lot of attacks. But one attack slips through the cracks and they die. Every boss in the game that I can go to has the opportunity to 1HKO me and I have 12,500 HP. And that's why party debuffs exist <3 Oh yeah, and all of our bosses summon. Those monsters also have the ability to 1HKO people. Last edited by Squeek; 06-23-2007 at 02:50 AM.. |

Re: MapleStory
Yeah, games are always much more fun if they involve bosses with massive HP and only a fair amount of attack power for a boss.

It automatically leaves you with 1 HP no matter how much HP you have. I think it works differently for Chief Bandits with Meso Guard though. Doesn't change for magicians with Magic Guard though. Possibly because it also drops MP down to 1.

It does damage equal to your HP - 1. It's not a set damage. It just hits everyone for their HP - 1. And MP. Our bosses have damage based on their Attack Power, Magic Attack, or whatever other stat they have points in. To be precise, they're like characters. They get points to spend on skills and abilities as well. So, that dragon in the video has a variety of things: AP to make his base attacks more powerful, LK to make his block ratio and critical hit ratio increase, MA to make his Magic attacks more powerful, DA (detectability) to make his pinpoint hit skills more powerful, HP to give him lots of HP, DP to give him lots of defense, and HV to make him super-evasive and boost his defensive-based attacks. The bosses also have the same buffs and debuffs that we have. It's just a matter of what they use. They can really kill our stats if they land, though. For example, Rust, a Mage skill, lowers AP by about 2,500. I don't even have that much AP. All of my skills would do 0 damage until it ran out, and there's no way to make it go away. Gloomy Mist would lower everyone's LK, DP, and HV by about 50%. It's a vicious skill. That's why people cannot solo these bosses. You saw how they had lots of different health bars. They can only do certain actions in each health bar. For example, they can only summon until they're in yellow. So getting them out of those first few bars is extremely important. Bosses are like all four classes with their best skills rolled into one thing. One thing I do like is that the longest respawn time is only an hour. Most bosses are in the half-hour range. |

Re: MapleStory
Hi.
I just scrolled a 12 attack work glove. How much is it worth? ps I tried to get going on a 40 ma earring and there were only 4 30% earring ints in the ENTIRETY of FM. All of them [except one] NOT ONLY FAILED BUT DESTROYED MY DAMN SINGLE EARRING. The last one worked though. So now I have one [3] int 5 ma 4 slot earring waiting for some more 30%s.

Re: MapleStory
Well, less than 1 out of 3 items are bound to work if the scroll has a 30% chance of working. What do you expect?

Re: MapleStory
Thanks for the help. Currently I'm lvl 20. When I get the 2nd job advancement, should I use a spear or pole arm, considering that I might get to the 3rd job. I know the Dragon knights skills are affected by the weapon, but the guides aren't very clear about the advantages of using each weapon.

I was just a little distraught at the fact that I got a 45% chance thing to happen 3 times in a row. ps for DKs, spears win. The polearm attack is only good at dealing damage in the biggest mobs, and those frankly are too uncommon for polearm to be effective.

Re: MapleStory
45%? Where are you getting that from? It's 30% work, 35% fail, 35% break.

Re: MapleStory
Damn, those odds are actually pretty good. So it's not really a 30% scroll then, it's probably something closer to 50%. I mean, it's a 65% chance that you'll either have the scroll again or it'll work.
You still lose a slot, though, right? If you don't, those things are incredible... |

The scrolls are one time use only. They have a 30% chance of working. So 30% that the scroll will work just like any normal scroll (item recieves benefits, loses a slot, scroll is used up). If they fail, the scroll disappears, the slot is used up. But if a dark scroll fails, it has a 50% of destroying the item it was used on. So 35% chance that the item will be destroyed along with the scroll. |
