The Thing

Finally! The last day of school. I now was a freshmen. I walked out of my eighth period class, Social Studies, and to my locker. I gathered my things and walked down the hallways out the door and to the bus. Finding a seat on the right near the back of the bus. The bus began to move several minutes after I boarded it. Hanging out and talking to the kids on my bus is what I did while we dropped kids off at their stops. When the bus arrived at my stop I got off and walked down the road and into my house.
I stepped through the door and put my bookbag down. I was alone at my house and I would be for several more hours. I sat down on the computer and checked FFR's forums. I read a few threads and decided to post in a few of them. Then I wrote a story in the Literature Forum about an adventure I went on one day through the park.
After about an hour I got rather bored. So I decided to go jogging. This time I didn't feel like taking my regular route. Instead, I decided to take a different road. I tied my shoes tight and hopped off my porch, beginning a fast jog.
I jogged down my sidewalk and into the road. Getting a calm breathing pattern down with my stepps. I jogged down a road and turned left into another. Then I turned right onto a road that was a steep drop towards a forest. I followed the road down and noticed a cut path in the woods. I saw a sign nailed to a tree left of the path made into the woods that said 'Private Property. NO TRESPASSING.' I knew that this path was used by quad riders and dirt bikers. So I decided to walk down it a little. My day had boring anyways, so I needed some adventure.
I walked down the path catching my breath from jogging. Stepping on twigs and leaves as I walked, I went down the path and to a small river. I followed the river to a meadow. I walked along the meadow and so a pile of rocks. Around this pile of rocks were red and blue ribbons tied to the trees that surrounded the rocks. I had no idea what they meant. Maybe they were markers for people so that they didn't get lost.
Next to the pile of rocks was a small stream. The stream was barricaded with rocks. I followed the stream to a hill. The stream just stopped. It didn't roll off the hill and into deeper parts of the woods, it just stopped. I peered down into the woods at the clusters of dark trees and bushes. There, infront of me stood a strange creature. It's eyes stared straight into mine. This thing was tall, with a neck that rose to the branches that hung over the forest. It stared at me. Slim, with fingers that seemed to nearly touch the ground. My heart pounded at the mere glance of it's face. With a head the shape of a perfect oval and eyes that appeared very thin. It had no nose, or no mouth. With two horns sticking out of it's head. It's skin was pale grey with no hair anywhere on it's body. It's legs were perched like a cat that was about to jump onto a counter and it had a tail with a small triangular bone at the end. It's tail swaggered back and forth. I wanted to run very badly, but the fear of it chasing me kept me absolutely still. I didn't move and time seemed to nearly stop. Everything else around me blurred. Suddenly, the creature closed it's eyes. I ran as fast as I could. Trying to get back to the road. I didn't look back, I was too afraid to. I ran towards the pile of rocks and stopped. There, ontop of the steep pile of rocks stood the creature. It glared down at me. Then closed it's eyes. I began to run again towards the road. As I approached the trees with ribbons on them a wall of fire whooshed up from the ground infront of me. I slid to a stop. My shoes were covered in mud. I turned around and saw the creature glancing down at me. I gasped for air in a panic. The wall of fire seemed to connect to the trees with ribbons on them and create a circle of fire around the perimeter of the pile of rocks. I stood facing the creature with my back to the fire. I had no idea what to do. I picked up some loose pebbles from the ground and threw them as hard as I could at the creature's head. They curved away from it when they came close. I threw three more rocks at the creature and they all curved away from the thing. As if they were repelling from the creature. I jumped into the air and pulled off a branch hanging from a tree. I lit it on fire and threw it directly at the creature. The fire blew out before it came close to the creature and the creature cought the branch. It threw the branch up into the air and broke it in half without touching it. Then, with a signal of it's arms it threw the two branches at me, knocking me to the ground.
I awoke on my back facing the stars. I layed there dazed and confused. Then suddenly everything flashed back into my mind.
I hopped up onto my feet and spun around. The wall of fire was gone. And the creature was nowhere to be found. I ran as fast and as silently as I could back to the road and up the street. I ran back to the road I lived on and stopped. Gasping for air, I glanced back towards the forest. Everything was silent. I ran up the road and didn't stop until I got home.
I ran into my house.

"Mom!" I shouted.

"Mom?"

No one was home. I ran through the house locking all the doors and windows. I was more scared now than ever before. I then calmed myself down and plopped myself onto my computer chair. The clock said 9:55. My mother would be home in an hour or so. I clicked on Internet explorer and opened up the FFR forums. I clicked on the Literature Forums and began typing a title: "The Thing".

The End?

I'd like to congratulate Leaff on his jump to the big screen.

Expect to see the DVD in stores soon.

Put it into paragraphs and I'll read it. As of now all I see is one huge lump of blurry text.
