Re: New Game looking for music composer!
Hey Lunatic, why don't you give my band a try.
Chaos Con Queso. (Look past the name) We sound like HORSE The Band. We're very 8-bit and "Nitendo-Core" if you will. I apologize but the only link I can send is of-course a MySpace one, so.... www.myspace.com/chaosconqueso Please let me know what you think. P.S. If FFR would like to use any of the songs please let me know. Last edited by BobWithAGee; 11-26-2006 at 08:37 AM.. Reason: Blayo. |

When you displayed characters, it was way too slow. Even with the little material that you do have, you counld've produced something better with the same amount of effort. Trailers don't have to be long, your trailer was way too long. Something that is 20 or 30 seconds would've made better sense, especially if it is exciting. My friends and I are also making a game. We are making a RPG and one of the very first steps to making this RPG was to make everything look official. We even made up our own waivers and signed them. Sure it sounds stupid, but the more official it sounds, the more serious it sounds and if you can't afford to take even the smallest "pointless" details seriously, people won't take the game seriously. ~Tsugomaru EDIT - Oh right, if you are going to show us something, don't give excuses to everyone criticing that it wasn't serious. We are going to judge it like if it were to be. That is what game reviews are. Last edited by tsugomaru; 12-3-2006 at 12:14 AM.. |

For example (let's use something really simple), let's say I'm REALLY GOOD at making cool looking Flash stuff. I put together some really awesome looking scenes of exciting battles and such. Then I string them all together in a video and say it's screenshots from gameplay. First of all, that'd be more impressive than your video, because your video was just some guy on a hill and some menu screens or something. Secondly, it wouldn't prove that the game in the video even exists. It's (relatively, compared to making a game) really easy to make fake screenshots of games. Also, from that huge rant it's pretty obvious you have little to no experience in actually making games. What exactly do you do in making this MMO? Are you a programmer, artist, what? Certainly you have SOMETHING that you do that qualifies you to be working on the game. From the way you talk about it, you don't seem to know much about the process, which makes me wonder if 1) this is even your stuff and 2) it'll ever get off the ground. TONS of people start making games. VERY FEW of those people actually finish their games. Of those finished games, VERY VERY FEW are worth playing. Of the ones worth playing, VERY FEW get noticed and make any money. If you want to prove yourself (and your team, for that matter) to us, why not show us some of your past work? Making a 3-D realtime MMO is no walk in the park, and it's not something you can do as your first game ever. Either you have previous experience to show us and prove your capabilities, or this task is far beyond what you can do. I'm not being pessimistic, I'm just letting you know. In any industry, people will take you MUCH MUCH MUCH more seriously if you have a portfolio, no matter how small. Proof that you can do SOMETHING is better than anything. You start small, doing things you can do, then you expand on that, gathering more fans and supporters along the way. Networking (people networking, not wires and internet) is HUGE in just about any company. Video games are no different. You could have the best game ever, but if you have no way to get it to people it will fail. You could also have a terrible game, but through hype and advertisement you could make quite a bit of money (or at least not lose as much). Finally, the little angry outburst is the most telling of everything. Life is hard. People in life are not nice. If anything you do isn't up to the standards of the people you're marketing it to, they will let you know, usually not in the nicest ways. That's why I was a complete ass to begin with. If you had come back and responded calmly and shown us past work, ya know, proven that you might be capable, I would have lightened up and encouraged you. If you think the people here are being mean or cruel, then you're in for a huge shock when you actually try and get the masses (which you'll need for an MMO) to play. Please, come show me wrong and make yourself look better. So far you're not doing so well. =\

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Not only do you speak unprofessionally, you blatently sound like a bigot. 90% of the thread is more well-spoken than you are and we aren't trying to plug anything.
I'd be surprised if this is your project.
