![]() I have a fairly long audio file (80 minutes) detailing the history of music games from 1998 - 2010, but I feel I've left things out since I can't be part of all music games at all times. This is for a piece of writing I'm doing, so if anyone could help me out I could list you in a special thanks section or as a contributor.
Please let me know if you'd be willing to help me. You can contact me on facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/a.macdonald.iv or by direct message on twitter. I don't know how much longer I will be able to post on FFR because asking staff for clarification on ambiguous rules and using phraseology like "[staff member] has failed at [x]" apparently is against the rules and the staff have revised the rules with broader wording in an attempt to ban people they merely don't like, so in the event I am banned when you see this feel free to take these avenues of contact. |

![]() @ choof
It's considerate to let people reading this know why I might not be able to return their messages, because otherwise they might think I'm ignoring them purposefully or that I didn't care about their help. |

![]() @ MrPop
I have both Moches and you friended on facebook, so I'll be contacting you two I'm also interested in getting reviews from the following people, if possible: * Chris / Kommisar * Gundam Dude (do you have fb?) * preferably someone who started music games pretty recently, like 2010 or later (I feel ultra old for calling 2010 "recent." my girlfriend was literally underage in 2010, now I feel like a pedophile. thanks stepmania.) |

Rhythm game specialist.

![]() I've been around many kinds of rhythm games since 2002, back when DDR 6th Mix was released -- I could likely help you since I've touched a ton of games, including some more obscure games like Guitar Freaks/Drummania/keyboardmania/(etc). What kind of information are you looking for in regards to this "history"?

![]() awesome. despite our disagreements I'll be sure to take in / integrate whatever criticism you have. let me know if you want me to credit you by your real name or by TC_Halogen.
I've uploaded the recording here: https://soundcloud.com/bigmacthugnas...needs-feedback this is a recording because that's how I structure my thoughts. I tend to compose chapters by voice recording because if I write things down, my subsequent thoughts are influenced by what I've already written down, and this gives me tunnel vision. I can stay big-picture by orating whatever it is I'm writing about. (note: I've been diagnosed with adhd before, and I've noticed I don't have this issue when on adderall. it could be a brain thing.) with that said, I've crossposted this to ffr's facebook group. also, for transparency this is to go into a book by an actual publisher. http://www.crcpress.com/product/isbn/9781482224986 I am not sure if I will change the author name to "Arch0wl" or Arch0wl + my real name, because the kind of people likely to buy this kind of book are people who would be more drawn to my gamer name than my real name. (that, and I'm a little iffy about this being my first book under my real name, merely because I don't want to write about games for that much longer.) I have the following questions I'm trying to answer: 1. since my perspective of history is influenced by what I personally experienced, I will no doubt be biased. what ways I am biased in presenting this history? 2. what, if anything, have I left out? (for example, I focused a lot on the ddr/stepmania/itg end of rhythm games, but I know (in retrospect of this recording) I left out Taiko Drum Master and some more obscure japanese music games like Jubeat.) the history of music games is, mind you, one chapter in about ten for this book, but it's also the longest one. I expect it to reach about 10k words (or 40 pages, in a more familiar sense.) each other chapter should be about 2,000 to 5,000 words, depending on how meaty it is. again, sorry for making this a recording, but I'm an extremely auditory learner/thinker and tend to write best by saying things out loud, so this is how I compose rough drafts. |
