Re: A new beginning for our SM community.
I just recently Got back into Stepmania and I've got to say playing all the old songs from the older packs has really brought back a lot of memories from the good ol days.
I think it would be awesome if a select group of active and Good stepartists made a pack dedicated to the old classic files and songs that made SM so fun and popular back in the day. something like that would be really cool imo.

I agree that it's important, but there's no reason to completely throw aside all the little technical details that have been sprinkled in over time imo. I feel like there should be tons of different styles and varieties of charts floating around so that there's something for everyone. (...or is it already like that?) |

Re: A new beginning for our SM community.
Can't we say that our general experience with any file is all relative? People talk about terms like "fun" as if it was an absolute value.
That's why I don't turn back from a certain type of file. |

Re: A new beginning for our SM community.
Well, I think there is the same amount of good files today as it was back then.
If I see HSMP 1 and HSMP 11 for example, I only play 5-10 files out of each because the rest sucks, the only difference is that the earlier files haven't got technical stuff as pitch relevance or aren't even synced right, same goes for other packs.

Re: A new beginning for our SM community.
I think I have a solution to this. try http://redfraction.us
I just revived my old stepmania website in hopes to bring back a community that was once nearly thriving. I had a scores database and everything being worked on back in 2007. Will we have everything like that in the new RF? I don't know. That depends on how many developers we have to help out, but I do plan on making this website stay on the map from now on. Maybe even our own SMO server soon |

I just disabled the account verification. I had implemented it in case of forum bots or something but I guess I'll just deal with them when the time comes.
