PxBeats on Kongregate
Hey, I played this game on my youtube channel recently (video here).
Or just see the game for yourself here. I'm not affiliated with the developer, but I'm curious what people think about it.

Re: PxBeats on Kongregate
I personally think it's all around insulting for both RPG and rhythm genres of gaming to label this game as such. I don't know what should motivate me not to press the 4 keys every time. The rhythm is terribly inconsistent on my end. Overall, it really does not appeal to me.

I didn't notice that pressing all 4 keys at once was unbalanced or needed to be discouraged, although battle mode is so easy that pressing all four keys for each note isn't difficult. In Stepmania, for instance, you can press all the keys at once and still hit the notes with no penalty, but for trills or streams, jacking on all four keys just doesn't work. About the rhythm being inconsistent, it kind of worked for me, but I admit, since there is some time where it looks like the "notes" can be hit when they actually can't, it can be confusing. Not a great feature for a rhythm game.

Re: PxBeats on Kongregate
Well, I literally play games at random on my channel, so a game that actually functions is pretty refreshing. More than that though, the idea of finding someone else who likes rhythm games enough to actually make a rhythm game with custom art and music... it just doesn't happen every day. Do I think it's better than FFR? Not at all, but it's trying to be more than just a rhythm game.
Very subjective... that's the feeling I got out of it though.

Re: PxBeats on Kongregate
This game got pretty boring fast. The short little titles for the song like "Abayer", the fact that it said victory even if you lost, and the horrible synthesizer playing broken versions of open source music really reminded of one of those shitty little plug in plays with tons of broken engrish you might find at a flea market.
Also, getting a boo resets your combo MarioNintendo, so that's the incentive not to just press all 4 at once. What a combo does, I'm not really sure |

It makes a visual effect when the bar is full... yeah, I don't think it does anything, but it should!
