Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
really, it has less to do with the party than the person in question
both parties are very full of shit, hivemind, etc individual people can be honest or not |

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
"i don't have a party because i just hate politics" and comments like it are byproducts of lazy thinking

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
one thing i don't get: just how specific has romney gotten with his plans to fix the economy? he castigates obama a lot, maybe rightly, for being all talk and not a lot of action (i would disagree--he pushed a lot of economic-recovery legislation through; whether or not that legislation worked is up for debate), but he strangely seems unaware of his doing the very same thing. his RNC speech was particularly painful, as he basically said "obama talks a lot but has no plan for actually reviving our economy" while in the same breath giving the same heated hyperbole about his own ability to save the economy, while never laying out any details. i guess this might be because i haven't looked hard enough, but should i have to?

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
i don't have a party and i hate politics, AND those two things are related
i understand the sentiment you're getting at, and sometimes it is laziness. though sometimes it is despair or disgust, instead. and no you shouldn't have to look harder for answers, the man was giving a speech, that was his time to tell his plan. |

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
you're right, i probably should have phrased that more carefully. people who answer any sort of "political question" (re: economy, abortion, gay rights, etc.) with something like "don't care; i hate politics" are more the lazy types, usually falsely positing themselves as some sort of "outsider" when really they just don't have the capacity or willingness to think about a lot of important stuff. which i guess "important" is subjective in this case, but whatever screw those losers. but yeah if you're like "honestly i'm apathetic toward romney-vs.-obama" i get that

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
currently watching, but the man is a liberal's liberal
"Lakoff was involved with a progressive think tank, the Rockridge Institute" "Among his activities with the Institute, which concentrates in part on helping liberal candidates and politicians with re-framing political metaphors" aka twisting the truth obviously that's not entirely the purpose, but it can easily lead to and further it |

I think you should probably try watching the video first before resorting to ad hominem >.>

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
Quite frankly, it doesn't matter who wins this election, as Congress will easily eff over anything either one of them wants to accomplish. It won't be any different at all. The downhill progress achieved over the past few years (by both sides of the aisle) won't be stopped until something (probably something pretty damn bad) wakes everybody up and depolarizes the country a bit. We have too many people (including a whole lot of ignorant pricks) that are a bit too power-hungry in office right now for my liking. When you have hundreds of people all trying to make a name for themselves by arguing/agreeing with pre-determined peers, it's hard to actually get anything worthwhile done.

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
i agree, but to a lesser extent. we all know the party system has this country in something of a deadlock, but to say it -doesn't matter- who gets elected seems pretty far-fetched to me.

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
i prefer ad hominem first, retract it later
in this case i don't have to retract it, lol the first 25 minutes are spent vilifying conservatives, 5 minutes of building up liberals, 7 minutes of pure truth, the rest is vilifying conservatives again not that he was entirely wrong about certain conservative mindsets Quote:
oh and he doesn't think dems want to ruin things but to each his own edit: i still recommend watching it though, it's not rubbish Last edited by Emanresu13; 09-5-2012 at 07:35 PM.. |

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
The irony is that if I had to pick someone to run the country, DEAD ****ING LAST on my list would be career politicians.

Re: Anyone else watching the DNC right now?
The people you'd want running your country are the ones who actually make their decisions based on reality
