Default DisneyWorld. I work there.

So check this out. Good friend of mine who is over in the business department said Disney is coming to our college recruiting, she was going to apply and thought I should too. And so I did.

Few weeks later after an application and a phone interview I get this.

"Dear Jonathan,

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate as a Cast Member (Disneys' word for 'employee') on the Disney College Program in the Spring 2009 Season." yadablah yadablay. Turns out only 6 of the 142 who applied in the area got the internship.

While there, Disney's going to provide with with housing, transportation, furnishing, and utilities, all while on a paid internship. Not to mention unlimited free admission and discounts for myself and limited free admission for up to 3 family/friends.

Anyone who's been here can tell you this is one of the greatest theme parks on earth. It's GIGANTIC. It's divided into 4 parks and a shopping district, each the size of an ordinary theme park. You could spend weeks here and not get to see all there is to see (Mind you, this is the Disney in Florida, not California).

Woohoo.

Doubt I'll give positions away, family wants to go, all that jazz. I'll pack you in my suitcase and you can hide in the closet and throw you my chicken bones and whatnot.

Congrats! I live pretty close to Disney. The parks are alright, just wish they had better rides.

Thing is about the hours, is that they don't limit you to hours per week, they limit it hours per day (which is 8) and every hour after that is overtime, so there are loads of opportunities for OT. I'm willing to get over the heat so long as the job keeps me busy, doesn't give me time to realize I'm not comfortable.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that and I get a nice cozy job inside.

What kind of work is it exactly? Like, I figured some kind of office work or something. Not a huge deal, though. It's cooler this time of year. Well lately is hasn't been.. but it will cool down.

The specifics of the job have yet to be...specified, but it's something to do with the food service. This will either be a big hit or a big miss. This means I could be one of the cart servers, or a bus boy, or anything else you can think of refreshment related.

Going to do my best to get dibs on a decent job though.

Disney is a very good company to work for. The down side is that you have to actually work for them. Seriously. They don't get internationally known just for being some run of the mill cooperation employees. Disney gets it's reps because they demand quite a bit, but they'll treat you well if you preform. Even if is cleaning dishes.

(trust me. I got the ins and outs of Disney job training methods at a Cub Scout boys camp for two years by a former employee. He used the same techniques to the dot.)

Sounds like fun. I used to live 10 minutes way from DW. Only got to go there once though, because the week after I moved in, three hurricanes hit. >< And then I moved away. ;_;

The only problem I would have with working there is the humidity combined with the sun. =\
