Diagnose me?
I'm experiencing sharp pain in what i believe is my ulnar nerve in my left hand. Not sure if the nerve is right but I'm attaching a picture where i will indicate where the pain is. Jw is anyone else has experienced this pain before? It doesnt really line up with CTS and feels a lot like tendonitis. Should I just rest? This pain has bothered me for quite awhile, even after breaks, which makes me think it could be more than tendonitis.
Red line indicates where i have pain. It is very localized along that line. |

Re: Diagnose me?
i think tendonitis is more joint pains, so its probably not that. have u tried icing it? there might be some swelling inside or something, cuz that doesn't typically go away just by giving it some time.
edit: if that doesn't help, just go to a doctor m8. they'll know better than me lol

Would consider the possibility of strained muscles. I know when I play this after a while I get a pain in the same spot. Definitely would wrap it up and allow it to heal straight either way, and if even after you rest/ ice it for a few days it's not any better, maybe go for trip to the doc

Re: Diagnose me?
When did it start? Can you associate the pain with something you did?
Is your hand resting on the table for a long time while you play? Are you using the mouse with your left hand? Have you tried to stretch it and get some 2-3 days rest to see if it gets better? Are you noticing that it hurts more after certain activities? Resting will obviously help, but taking actions to avoid getting the pain would be useful as well. I have tendonitis and it does kinda sound like it to me. Unfortunately tedonitis doesn't always just go away. For some people taking the break/wearing a brace for a little while will fix it. Others need physical therapy or even surgery to correct the problem. I was diagnosed in 2012 and still have it to this day. I haven't tried physical therapy yet, but I probably should. I have a brace I'll use sometimes which will help for a bit, but then it flares back up again. Your best bet is to go see your doctor though, you don't want to end up doing more damage by trying to self diagnose. |

Re: Diagnose me?
Sometimes I get a sharp pain there when I play FFR, but only after LONG periods of playing hard files.

Re: Diagnose me?
I would chalk it up to tendonitis because I have Arthritis, RSI, and CTS in my hands and what you are stating is similar yet not in the right ways. If you take your red line and put it between middle/index as well as the lower section (thumb and below) and that's my pain zone (specifically moving your line between middle/index when playing rhythm games).
There is a chart to help with pains in your hands so I can send you said chart because I have no other choice but to perform the 15 or so hand gestures throughout the day to ease the pain. Also, taking breaks/rests does work but they have to be longer in duration compared to a 1-3 day break from rhythm gaming.

Re: Diagnose me?
I had a similar issue. My pinky stuck out more than it should and in pushing my limits, strained the muscles. It ended up getting really bad too. Couldn't touch the pinky or move it oddly and on top of that, the muscle on the top of my forearm felt like it was being strained heavily. A good break and better hand placement sorted most of it out.

Re: Diagnose me?
I agree with this. Do not try to handle the situation with non-professionals attempting to diagnose you - that's potentially dangerous. You can take the suggestions in this thread with a grain of salt, but ultimately see a doctor.

Re: Diagnose me?
The ulnar nerve supplies the sensation to that area, but the nerve isn't there.

Would you rather end up just catching something early and spending like an hour at a dr or end up having to possibly get surgery and being out for longer? |

health > almost everything
if you don't have health you can't function, so go see a doctor.
