The only circumstances in which I would come out to my parents would be:
*One or both of them constantly getting on my ass about getting a girlfriend
-I would have to put them out of their misery and crush their hopes of <more> grandchildren there.
*If I get blatantly asked about it
-Even then I would respond with a 'wtf it's not your biznass' type of tone.
*I get accused of raping some bitch and getting her pregnant or something
-This one was just for lulz.


So yea, I don't really think it's any of their business, at least while I'm not in a relationship with anyone. Thankfully neither of my parents would cite the bible or anything upon my coming out. My mom and I aren't even the same religion (my religion is referring to catholic, since I went to catholic school for 8 years and got confirmed and shit w/e, but I'm agnostic anyway) so I'd just thumb nose anything she says anyway. The way I see it, in my current situation, it's a risk without a reward. I'm not feeling 10 tons of inner turmoil on the subject that needs to be unleashed this instant and it's not worth getting banished from the house or something from coming out.

Congratulations flipsta, although I don't like pussy I can sure be a giant one when it comes to disclosing information like that to people I'm close to. Spekt.

If his parents were born at the same time that he's born, their reaction would have probably been different due to what life has exposed to them. There's usually always a logical reason (or least logical to them) to explain these reactions. It's sad how even if they're only one generation apart, life is changing enough to feel like strangers to each others, but apparently something like this is possible in an era of appearances and hypersexualisation.

Things are getting better but you'd be surprised. A lot of people accept other people as homosexuals but when it's their son or daughter, it's a completely different story. No amount of reason can help some people. Some people are too stubborn and form opinions based off of emotion rather than what's logical. Like, what if they wanted to be in your life, but they'd do shit like not even want to meet any bfs of yours, or pretended they didn't exist, or they'd keep introducing you to girls, etc. (assuming you're a man...I suddenly realize I may be mistaken there...)

Male in the flesh. This situation would never even happen with them because of how narrow-minded and stubborn they are. Theoretically, however, it would have been much much worse. They're not going to do shit about it: they're just going to continuously bash and curse me into damnation.

My parents are VERY Bible-oriented and old fashioned. They go so far as when they think someone is "wrong" in any form or matter, the ones accused are condemned, using lines that begin with: "Hey, the Bible says it's wrong/bad to do ... ", "You're going to hell if you ... ", etc. They leave no room for compromise and understanding the other side, though they make it seem like their opposition is presenting the "right" thing and it's what should be done. They do it with family and friends... and this is why all of my relatives can't get along with them and they practically have no friends.

Anyway, it's been a week since coming out and the household has been nothing but doors slamming, talking [loud] behind my back, arguments, and bunch of other bullshit drama. "If they wanted me around?": They don't want me around, haha. If they did, it would have been because they are desperate for more financial assistance.

But they are making it pretty loud and clear that they were and will be happy without me, without a son until I marry a woman and get kids. Hahaha! I still find that funny.




Less than 4 days, I'm gettin' a new crib with the homie, a kegerator with Delirium Tremens hooked up, and the place fully furnished. Home swag home, pce~

@ Flipsta: As far as coming out to your parents, I'll commend you on your courage. While I'm not gay, i can understand telling your parents something knowing that they'll most likely react negatively. Its hard to be honest sometimes but I'm sure eventually they'll come around and accept it.

As far as the religion aspect, i'm tempted to go off on a tangent about it as i have some fairly strong feelings when it comes to the type of people who are unable to form their own opinions and cite the bible as law.

For what it's worth, I used to hate gays and think all the negative stereotypes, etc... because I was brought up that way. I hadn't personally met any at that point.

Then I actually met and interacted with and befriended people who were gay and found they were perfectly normal, even nice people. At one point I even had a roommate who was gay and he was one of the nicest and cleanest roommates I've ever had. There were never any problems.

So I would say, for the younger people, there is still hope. They just have to have actual interaction to see that gay people are perfectly normal, good people just like other people. So for anyone who is gay, be sure to set a good example because whether you like it or not, you are a representative of gay people everywhere and maybe you can show someone they are wrong about gays. If they're open-minded enough you may change their views.

I doubt you're going to change the minds of older, set-in-stone, Bible-thumping types though.
