Yep, I was kinda wanting to see if anyone had had calc.

For the follow up the answer is only zero if you choose the integral's principal value. Principal value meaning that you choose to have the contribution from the right and the left of the integral reach zero at the same rate.

Consider breaking up the integral into two pieces, one from the left to zero and one from zero to the right. Now it's obvious we have -inf+inf which isn't well defined unless we know at which rate the two pieces reach infinity.

It was kind of a trick question, which is why I said it was harder.


I'll also quit posting problems that require higher level math than (and not including) derivatives.

EDIT:

A dog is inside a yard that is 100 feet by 100 feet. He is chained to one wall, at the midpoint of the wall. His chain is 100 feet long. What is the total area the dog is able to access inside the yard?
