I wanna see that on youtube Rubix, but isn't a 4x4x4 completely different than a 5x5x5? Certainly less complicated, but does that make it easier to solve than a 5?

Dude, I saw a movie that proved why a 7x7x7 can't be perfectly square, and I understood and taught that information to people!! That unlucky Twist goes against everything I've learned D: Someone teach me what's going on here...

Actually they can be perfectly square -- it just requires a different mechanism concerning the corner pieces.

The even-number cubes solve a bit differently than the odd-numbered ones, but once you get into the 5x5x5 cubes, it becomes a mix of strategies.

With 4x4x4 parity comes into play

Parity comes into play on ANY cube.

If edge parity is even, then the corner parity must also be even. If the edge parity is odd, then the corner parity must also be odd. A 2x2x2 is basically just a 3x3x3 without the edges.

Okay I'm confused now

..no, wait, youre right. I forgot we were talking about BLD solving.

I was just referring to when I first got a 4x4x4 and had to learn a new parity algorithm that I never needed for 3x3x3.

It doesn't matter if we're talking about blindfold solving or speedsolving. Parity issues always exist.

But it's not so much that pieces have some sort of "different parity" -- they're just in different spots. For instance, consider a 4x4x4 dedgeflip. Try paying attention to what really goes on when you're "flipping" the pieces.
