I rearranged the In The Groove Ranking engine I did for Bemanieurope, and,
in almost no time, it came out good.

First of all, I need a ****ING temporary hosting for this **** until I register the
www.blu3planet.com domain, with PHP 5 (required for the Import Score from
your XML file/parsing) and MySQL with unlimited queries allowed.

Then:

I seriously think only the songs from the "official" packs + a few other "famous"
ones should be ranked. For legitimacy, I've been thinking of an obligatory link to
a player's SMO profile.

And yeah, I know that it will be full of ugly bs'ers, but my effort will be to
kill any unlegitimate entry, or the whole user.

Gimme suggestions.

And, by discuss, I mean constructive comments, not LOL STEPMANIZ SERIOUZ BUSINEZZZ
crap I know better than you that this isn't more than a fun way to compare users'
scores.

*UPDATE*

Now the Submit Score link works, and the songs you reported to be missing
are there again

I modified the score entry section. Now you can save lots of work by just
putting in the correct amount of perf/great/good/boo/miss, it calculates the
marvelouses and the OK's by itself, depending on the song.

I hope this helps until I complete the "Upload from XML" function, the parsing
gives me still some problems =) Have fun!!

This is the most awesome idea ever, I love you. I suggest that you require a couple of SMO scores from people that seem to be BS

Andeplane and I actually had the same idea. To make something like DDREcall (for those who know that) to SM. It'll be hard/impossible to hold out bs-scores, but at least it's great to have your best scores gathered at one place. Also you can get a feeling on how you are compared to the other players.

The idea is superb, and that you've already come this far is really nice.
Which songs is also a dilemma, as you mention in your post ThaoR. Favourite stepmania-songs is kind of individual, but I think there's some sort of agreement of which packs have the better songs, and stuff like that. Famous packs, and perhaps some outstanding individual songs should be in the ranking pages. I know a lot of people might be sick of the old Keyboard mega pack songs, but they are still pretty good, and also funny to compare with other players. =)

It's the only problem which scares me. While on In The Groove/Dance Dance
Revolution a pic proves it all, cause there's no way you can hack the Extreme
machine or the ITG dedicab (in terms of scores, I mean), here a simple
screenshot doesn't mean anything :\

And people BS _EVEN_ on ITG rankings.

I guess we'll have to live with it.

I'll edit the first post if any nice suggestions for the pack come.

The question about the "legitimacy" of the people in there may find a quite elitarist answer.
We could make the ranking accessible only by admin approval.

Positive points: Less bs

Negative points: We need an army of admins/judges to evaluate the user requests correctly,
we could be overflowed XD

I have loads of spare time, I can help. About the people that could be BS, tell them to go play SMO and post scores, it's easier then making a video and I don't know if you actually can get around TIMING with a lowered judge/edited ini/whatever cheat. People say that there is ways to get around it but I never heard of them
