For all of you calling lack of context, here's a some.

You are immune to a disease that currently is ruining the lives of millions and the only way to find a cure is to dissect you and find out what makes you immune.

I just finished reading "The Scorch Trials" that's why i'm asking this.

lmfao

this question now reminds me of that classic morality question where you have one healthy patient and five dying ones, and the only way to save the five is to kill the one and chop up his body for parts to use in the five.

Then no. Because in that exact context I am more valuable than all those people combined. Natural selection and all. Those with natural immunity would survive to repopulate the Earth.

No, you're the ONLY one immune.

You guys are finding ways out of it and that wasn't the question.

No. Would those millions of people be willing to die to save my life? I'd think probably not.

Of course, it depends on the full situation.

I'm not "finding ways out of it". My initial conditions were ones of value. Clearly in that exact scenario I am more valuable than all those people combined. Now you're adding an addition condition that I am the only person on Earth who is immune. That makes me the most valuable person on Earth in that scenario.

I guess I'd have to find as many uninfected partners as possible, get very busy, and hope some of the offspring gained the immunity. Hopefully the infection wouldn't have spread to the entire world by the time some of those offspring matured, so they would be able to repopulate with some of the remaining uninfected people and so forth.

With this in mind:

What would be the situation for the thousands or millions of people being killed? If they're being morons and slaughtering each other over racial hatred, then no, it's not worth sacrificing myself at all

I'm a soldier and I do this anyway. Makes no difference quick or torture. I fight to save lives. Not always by killing but self sacrifice as well. Ones blood sweat and tears can help/change the lives of millions.
