Default Slow internet+FFR=Boredom. If you have slow internet please show so on the Poll.

Hello FFR. This thread was established so as to create an accurate list of members who have a slow internet connection. By "slow" internet connection I mean dial-up and dial-up like speeds. The intentions behind creating this list is to catch the attention of the creator of this wonderful world known as FFR, with the purpose of having him create a smaller, more palatable version of FFR. Whether this version is downloadable and new songs are downloaded once a week, or it is simply a cheap version of FFR online, we would like to see it. I don't like waiting 20 minutes for FFR to load, and an additional 5 to 10 minutes for a song to load. Some of the ideas that people have created can be discussed in this thread:
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=57540

Please do not hesitate to vote. It will help in the long run.

Dial-up in 2009 is pretty funny, man. Fast internet is not very expensive anymore. Although, I understand you're in Iraq, so all jokes about dial-up aside, here's the real reason it won't happen:

There are no active administrators on the site outside of LD who can code. I don't believe there's a whole lot of user based need for a downloadable version of FFR, especially when StepMania exists.

That and Synth said he didn't think there were enough dial up people to merit either totally recoding how it works (which wouldn't help all that much, it is flash) or providing 300 mb files to download every week, which wouldn't be helpful either.

Absolutely. Stepmania is an awesome game. However, playing songs in Stepmania won't add onto my FFR scoring/ranking, downloading the songs is as much of a pain in the 455 as loading the songs up in FFR, and I don't think that the stepfiles in the FFR songs are allowed to be used in SM.

It may be a huge pain, however, it would still benefit the site more than it would actually hurt it.

It would be larger than that even, twice probably. Been a while since that thread.

Right, so you create a program to where you can choose five to ten songs for download, and wait until they are done. You play the songs, your score gets updated as such, and then you can choose some more. I know I can download 300 mb in about 16 hours of continuous connection. While I am waiting I will be working etc, and when I get home I can have those songs to play with while I am downloading the next batch. I guess the older ones would have to be deleted, however, that is something I can live with.

Edit:
I know I am making it sound easy...however I do realize that the coding would be EXTREMELY difficult. Don't take me as arrogant or anything.

Personally, I'd think the coding would be pretty easy.

I have broadband. My grandparents use dial-up, but they wouldn't be playing online games even if they had a broadband connection.

But what's important is that you don't have it anymore.

I remember back in 2006 when I would always want to play FFR on dial up and never could because the game wouldn't load. This is 2009 though.

Would about this, though?

Just keep your browser open for the rest of your life, load every song, and you will never have to wait again.

That's seems like an easier option for everyone. Also, it saves the programmers of this site time to actually start other "newer" stuff.

Oh, and if your poll does not get more than ten people, you can probably bet this will never happen.
