Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
That's the case with me. In gold and silver, I wanted Pikachu, Lugia and Lapras ( right spelling?) for my team to go against the elite four. Lapras wasn't that bad, except I would always beat it or run out of pokeballs, at leats it came back every friday. I also wanted Dratini, wasn't too bad either, just wasted all of my money and couldn't catch other pokemon or heal them in battles.

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
I usually just use the pokemon I get as I go along, but this time I'm going for the ones I actually care about, so I'm only really using four at the moment.
And I hear the troubles with the pokemon not obeying you, especially since my second and third ones are starter trades, and have stopped obeying since before the first gym. I had hoped that the Coal Badge would help, but OOPS. So now I'm basically down to a Monferno and a Kadabra, except when I feel like taking ten minutes to do a single battle. Whatever.

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
ObserveR, sorry to say you can't get an Eevee for quite a while. It's not in the Sinnoh pokedex, so you don't even see one until after you beat the game and get the national dex (meaning, you can't even search for it in online trading). The only way to get one earlier would be to trade with one of us or a nearby friend who has it (and when you get it, its pokedex number will be "???", haha).
If you really want I can breed another one and not nickname it just for you, but I'd kinda want something cool for it. I've never had to worry about my Pokemon not obeying me... kinda made me think it only applied to traded Pokemon, but guess not. I do like to keep my Pokemon relatively evenly trained, but they're still overleveled in the context of the storyline. I find it more fun to raise a bunch of them that cater to every type, so you can put the minor amount of thought into switching to things that can kill in one hit. Makes battles a lot less tedious-feeling.

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Just got a DS Lite yesterday! I'm pretty happy, but I have to give you my new friend code and re-register all the friends in my games!!!
Here's my new friend code: 3694 6633 8442 Same game, so my name is still Michael and still Pearl version. Hope you guys would take the time to register me. I'd appreciate it. I go on wifi randomly, and sometimes I set up games and stay on for about 20 minutes. To see if anyone is on. I like playing randomly like that. I just get cool pokemon that I like on my team early on. I have not had obeying problems, I evenly train my Pokemon, and it seems all my pokemon are 5-10 levels under the area pokemon all the time. I can easily beat them, though. I just started training a new team because I was bored. Last edited by Blud_n_Gor; 05-6-2007 at 12:15 PM.. |

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Haha, what's so "omg" about Munchlax? XD I think you get them on sweet honey trees, which is kind of a pain, though. I'm just trading away my army of bred Mitsuhoneys for other honey tree pokemon.
Edit: Blud, I added you. =D Also, I just realized it would be beneficial for all of us to trade at least one Pokemon with each other, whether we need it or not. The lottery in Jubilife City picks a random number and compares it to the "Original Trainer" ID number of all the Pokemon you have, so the more Pokemon from other people you have, the more likely you are to win things.

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Nothing more to do? How about making a superawesome competitive team? XD That's where the "real" game starts, although I'm not so sure I'm going to bother competing with those obsessive elitists.
Heh, I don't think I'd have the patience to redo it all this soon. Pretty boring if you just did it all. Plus, I have sentimental attachments to my files. XP

It was in the Goldenrod game corner place. Took long to get enough money to buy all the coins.

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Jamuko, I think you're totally misunderstanding me here.
What I do when I start any new pokemon game, is I browse through the pokedex of the game (basically what's available in the game). This game is a bit different, considering I could technically get any pokemon anytime I want via world trading or whatever, but yeah, back to my point. So I look at the pokedex and I pick out 6 pokemon I wanna use as my main team. Most of the time, only one or two are available before the 3rd or 4th gym. And sometimes, the last one isn't available until at least the 6th gym. I've never had a problem doing it this way, considering my choices have usually been fairly good. Water,Fire, Electric are musts in any game. The rest, IMO, is up to you. I usually pick a versatile pokemon, something that can learn a lot of moves via TMs. These usually tend to be stronger pokemon (in red/blue it was Nidoking/Nidoqueen, in gold/silver it was Tyranitar). I also usually replace my original flying pokemon (Staraptor in this game, but it's usually a Pidgeot) with <something>/flying. It was Articuno in red/blue and then Skarmory ever since. You just DON'T have a team if you don't have a dragon in it, so I always try to get that type as well. (Dragonite in red/blue/gold/silver, Bagon in Ruby/Saph). And that leaves one slot left. I usually play around with this one slot quite a bit (Ghost and Psychic are fun... ground can be cool sometimes too) but I usually end up trying to find an Ice pokemon (Dragon users = owned). A pokemon I think is really awesome but gets no recognition (at least not from anyone I know) is Jynx. Unfortunately, you could never get Jynx that was named... Jynx (until FR/LG), so I never used her. But god, sp. atk and speed through the roof! There is no pokemon I can't one-shot in my FR with my Jynx. So yeah, I don't just "use a couple pokemon the whole game" or whatever you guys were thinking. It's a complicated process. (Not really, but whatever.) P.S: The only "cool" things I could really offer you would be some items. Like... assuming you wanted another "powers up <type> moves" kind of thing. Other than that, I don't really have anything that good. P.P.S: Is it hard to get Eevee to turn into Glaceon?

Re: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
I want six eevees for an "eeveelution" team. That sounds fun to me. I am trying to figure out which one to leave out since there are seven "eeveelutions."
Edit: observer, all you have to do to get Glaceon is level up an eevee in the area where the weird icy rock is. it's above the second house on route 217 Last edited by Blud_n_Gor; 05-10-2007 at 05:44 PM.. |
