new to sm

and yes, there is no thread for this

basicly, ive been trying to download lots of packs, but its REALLY hard

because lots of the good songs no longer are hosted, and the packs i find are in .rar format, which i dont know what the heck is, so if anyone could, lead me in the direction to links that work for sm packs?

edit- not like the sticky with all the sites, but what are some of the older packs, and where can i get them, because its pretty hard searching for individual songs

Yes, there have been threads on this done multiple times. Get Winrar which will work with .rar format. No pack does "zip" anymore, it's the rar age.

still havent figured out where quasar is lol

you have to pay for winrar... i cant find a free download =/

i also found alot of links to ddrgeek that dont work
i found a thread, just most of the links dont work

You can download WinRAR as shareware, and it'll still work after 30 days. It'll say "Oh you have to register" but you really don't; it still works perfectly.

And I forget where I found Quasar...I'm assuming you're talking about the one by Eggman that Arch0wl made famous? You could try looking in the Simefile DB here at FFR.

Even though it says it's evaluation version, it'll work after thirty days, so you're good.

Here's a link to some packs. When you dowload them, extract to your Desktop, and they should show up in a Folder. If they don't, Cut the files and stick them in one. Cut the Folder holding the files and navigate to "C:\Program Files\StepMania\Songs\". Paste the Folder in that spot.

ps- what is a torrent, i noticed that is a format used also for simfile data
