[Uni - Heat Transfer] Forced Convection
OK, I've been stuck on this problem for like 3 hours now and it's driving me insane. I'm given a duct with air entering at a given temperature. The duct walls are at a different, higher constant temperature. I need to solve for the heat flow through the walls as well as the mean exit temp of the air. I've shown that the flow is turbulent.
I'm mostly sure that I need to find an average Nusselt number for the whole pipe to be able to solve for the heat transfer coefficient so that I can solve for the total heat transfer in the pipe. Unfortunately, nowhere in my book nor in any other source I've found does it list an average Nu equation for turbulent forced convection. Anyone out there happen to be able to point me in the right direction for finding one, or, even better, a more straightforward way of tackling this problem?

Re: [Uni - Heat Transfer] Forced Convection
Jesus Christ, Polk, do you really think anyone could help you on FFR? You need to go post on the NASA forum, and I'm actually being serious.
I was probably your best bet, but I'm a year behind, and I really have little to no idea what you're talking about. Although, I just thought about GuidoHunter. He's got a degree in ME, and he probably knows some of this stuff. Hopefully he sees this. Sorry I can't help. |

I know, I was just taking the long shot.

Re: [Uni - Heat Transfer] Forced Convection
Those correlations I have already, they're standard in my text. I found some small print that I think lets me sneak my way around the problem I was having, but in an inelegant manner. But, I guess it'll do for now. Thanks for anyone who read the thread.
