Naruto is marketed to the 11-14 demographic in Japan. It's marketed to the 13-16 demographic here and it's still toned down. There's a lot of blood cut out, a lot of language softened, and a lot of suggestive material edited.

American versions of Japanese shows are always dumbed down and marketed to an older audience. Obviously we're less mature. The crime rate is significantly lower out there, and yet these violent cartoons are on the air for pre-teens. Hmm.

Even some H-games are actually marketed to 15+ kids. Most of them still have the 18+ on them, and some are even 21+, but the fact remains that there is softcore stuff out there for a younger audience.

Do you really think fansubbers take the time to edit things out? That's the whole point of fansubbing -- to bring the original version of the show to those who want them.

But, yea, I watched the first episode of Sailor Moon uncut. It's interesting to say the least lol. I feel a bit demasculated though.
