Default Nuclear Weapons

Well take comfort in this. At this time the Soviet Union has approximately 35 nuclear weapons pointed at our country. I don't care what you think you know, this is a fact. I currently work with Nuclear weapons in a remote location in the United States. The only way I ever see another Nuke being detonated with the intent of harming other people is if a terrorist were to sneak one into the country and more or less detonate it in the fashion known as a "dirty bomb." This yield would not nearly be as strong as some of the weapons we possess, (note to all of you, the actual yield of the minuteman nuclear weapons and the recently deactivated Peacekeepers is top secret and I can't discuss it with you.) Just know this, it's more powerful than you can imagine. I've personally overseen the security systems that are in place and I even know how to steal one if I had the resources. Right now I'll tell you this, the probability of someone stealing one of ours is next to impossible.

Did I have a point? no.

Just some Gee-whizz knowledge. Discuss.

Humans can't get along. Seriously. We've come from being cavemen to smiting each with nuclear bombs. Evolution-1 again.

smiting each other has happened all throughout history

from certain viewpoints, it can be said that it made people stronger

There have been countless wars throughout history. Competition for food turned nomads into stay-put civilizations. Competetion made people stronger.
There's so much potential good that can come out of the general idea of a nuclear reaction. It's not like the situation we're in is that much different. It's just at a higher magnitude, but we have more people now don't we? It seems to balance in the end.

Competition back then didn't consist of weapons that could potentially kill over a billion people.

ps top secret military knowledge plz

But the total amount of people back then was less too
The fraction of humans taken out in a war, maybe not directly comprable, but with people more densely packed, this would happen.

The weapons are bigger, but there are more people, and less psycho dictatorial/monarchial leaders

I think that we are responsible for our own actions. We, as humans, created nuclear warfare, and I think we as humans need to solve the problem or deal with the threat of nuclear warfare. It would help if people didn't hate each other so much...

Three are five point of communication. The first is the idea in one person's head. The second is coming up with the right words to express that idea, thought or feeling. The third is the location of the two people communicatiing ("Knock you up" means different things in two English speaking countries). The fourth is what the receiving end hears. The fifth is what the receiving end understands.

Lots of stuff can go wrong from 1 to 5. Note that this is only between one person to another. When lots of people start communicating we have some serious problems. Then we have lots of people in a group communicating with lots of people in another group. And then we have war because something minimal like a misplaced vowel completely ruins relations between the two groups.

But, hey, it's the best we have. At least those buggers haven't been launched yet.

All the talk about Russia and their nuclear weapons...Has everyone forgotten about North Korea? Or any other "3rd World" nation that might have a grudge against, not to be stereotypical, let's say the United States?

I'd rather not wake up tomorrow morning and find out everything south of Canada's border has been turned into nuclear mush.

And then there is that guy who sold stealth bomber technology to 8 different countries. Yesterday the CIA just arrested 4 more people in LA.
Plus, China is recruiting spies in the US(it's true! One of their targest: college students).
Even better yet, 75% of the world's population thinks Americans are bastards.
Polls in the US show a growing concern over government corruption, and the new bill that has been proposed would cut 30 something billion off of the federal budget screws over the poor, not the rich.
Thanks to the earthquake/tsunami and these hurricanes, the climate of the world will be f'ed up for the next century or so. Winters will be colder in the north and summers will be warmer in the south.
There have been riots in Paris and its suburbs for the past week because two teens were electrocuted to death while hiding from the police(but wait, why were they hiding in the first place?).

When I leave college, I'm moving to Australia.

I can't imagine the human race lasting much longer. In the last 100 years we've come SO much closer to the possibility of extinction.

People talk about space travel and getting to stars? Forget it. Pollution, wars, nukes, genocides... I think we've been really lucky so far... from beating Germany in WWII to the Cold War and that's all pretty recent. =/

we've moved beyond evolution and the survival of the fittest. It's not making us stronger. It's not population control. It's unnecessary loss of lives. And then one even leads to another, greed takes over and history is repeated. And we're at the point now if there ever was a nuclear war, we could be looking at the extinction of the human race.

Nukes are pointless. They just cancel themselves out. If noone had them, we would be fine. But now that everyone has them, noone is going to want to get rid of them. But noone (with a brain) is ever going to fire one, unless they really want to end the world. I personally...if I controlled the nukes, would not fire back. But of course, whoever was fired at will stupidly fire back and destroy the human race. I suppose even if we didn't, the world would be left so corrupt it would never survive anyway. So a nuke is a no win situation.

Which, in my opinion, is better than me battling other people for training. I'd prefer someone else have to deal with it.

"Oh, but Q, if you don't deal with it now you'll end up with a nuke up your ass!" I really could care less. The likelihood that anyone would launch a nuke at us is rather slim. So Russia has 35 pointed at us right now, how many do we have pointed at them? And if we know how many they have, it'd only be fair they know how many we have. In fact, it'd be advantageous to us for them to know that.

Assured Mutual Destruction. Yet another form of communicating.

It would be way cooler to hit ppl with sticks axes and swords to death than miss the target with a nuke because you only found his look-a-like and kill 1-billion innocent unaware by-standers and have to live with it...... DAMN EMO"S

Dude, please, stop.

Nukes suck. The only way I ever see them getting launched is some shifty Terrorist works, setting countries up. Other than that, I highly doubt it.
