Thread revival?

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=107039

short answer: sure, not too competitive tho, it's more of a hobby for me. I tried to learn fridrich, but it's too much memorization/work for me.

Yeah I don't cube anymore at all but I think it's still an interesting thing to discuss in terms of mathematics/logic, especially where blindfold cubing is concerned

My parents gave me a cube when I was 11 or so with the expectation that "you're bright enough, you can probably solve this". Ten years and more passed with that thing proving impenetrable, until I finally did a Youtube search and found out about Dan Brown.

For me, it wasn't about the whole competitive aspect, merely being able to solve a problem that had vexed me for a long time, and no doubt torments many others in the same way. I still get infuriated when people shuffle my cube, because then I have to solve it again.

I used to speed solve in middle school. But then I discovered FFR and had better things to do XD

What's the point of knowing how to solve a cube if you still get mad when people scramble it?
Besides, it takes like 2 minutes tops, even with basic.

Or, you know, anywhere from 12-20 if you're decent at it

Not a huge deal to solve them at all timewise.

4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes though i cbf

I tried to speedsolve in the past but failed... I still need to learn how to use Friderich's Method. (PS: best time with the basic method was like 48-50 sec)

In terms of mathematics and logic, how do you use this to solve a cube? I'm interested now lol

you can subdivide components of the cube into corners and edges, defined in terms of orientation and permutation. There are other concepts such as parity errors, commutators, set cycles, etc. Just kinda interesting.

Rubix, I have a rubik's cube sitting on my shelf for about a decade now. If I wanted to start learning these hell-objects, where's a good place to start?
