Meh I just used audacity and recorded it. Dunno if that's fine for FFR purposes though. I'd like confirmation.

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
I got permission from an artist on Newgrounds to use on of their songs but I was cleaning through my inbox and accidentally deleted the message (can't get a SS now >.>).
It was for a song I'm actually stepping for the current batch but uhh.. what do I do now? I sent him a message asking to resend the permission because I deleted it before I could save it, but what if he doesn't even read it before the 31st (end date for batch)? |

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
Some pink artists that are already in the song should be updated now. I know a few were mentioned, such as Breakbeat Heartbeat and F-777.
A new one I've found: the artist D-Lux is one of the "OCRemix artist" that made Lover Reef, which has been in the game for a long time now. That artist can be "unpinked" too. |

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
The link for Dr.Ozi links to one specific song of his... Does that mean it's the only song we've got permission for (what confuses me is that he's listed in the blanket permissions)?

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
Is anyone ready for a discussion/debate?
I've been looking at some label contracts and terms of use pages for a bunch of the artists we've always dreamed of having. People like DJ Taka, Yoshitaka, bemani artists, etc, and some more rock bands from America. On all of the websites for these labels, I've come across the essence of a phrase regarding using songs. The gist of what I see is: a person may use songs from the artists under a label as long as it has no commercial for-profit use. (As FFR no longer does subscriptions, there is no profit to be made, and even so... we have never sold simfiles for money on this site). I have also seen that "third party applications" have no rules regarding use. (Wouldn't FFR be a third party?) |

It might be a better idea to discuss/debate about particular excerpts from these contracts rather than just getting the gist of things.

http://atlanticrecords.com/terms-of-use/
12. Usage Restrictions for Products. All Products you purchase, obtain or access on or through the Site are solely for your personal, non-commercial use. Except as otherwise expressly provided herein, you may not reproduce, publish, transmit, distribute, display, broadcast, re-broadcast, modify, create derivative works from, sell or participate in any sale of or exploit in any way, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, any of the Products or any related software. 16. Third Party Applications. The Site may include third party software applications and services (or links thereto) that are made available by our Providers ("Third Party Applications"). Because we do not control Third Party Applications, you agree that neither we nor our Affiliates, nor our respective Artists and Representatives, are responsible or liable for any Third Party Applications, including the performance, accuracy, integrity, quality, legality, usefulness, or safety of, or intellectual property rights relating to, Third Party Applications or their use. We have no obligation to monitor Third Party Applications, and we may remove or restrict access to any Third Party Applications (in whole or part) from the Site at any time. These two points clash with each other. Someone cannot use the music unless it is something stated somewhere else in the terms of use. That "somewhere else" is where the third party applications might fall into place. Or you could also go the way of "non commercial use," to imply something might be possible here |

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
I don't know much about implicit use of songs except for CC stuff.
In the past, we didn't have great success with well-known labels. Example: Ghakimx tried to get permission from Super Eurobeat artists a few years ago. He had unanimous support from those artists, yet the artists couldn't grant permission due to the Avex label overriding any decision for the go-ahead. He later wrote an email stating what the costs would be to use a song. There were no further responses. |

Re: Artist Blanket Permissions v5
Just noticed that Fighter X is both on Normal and Limited/Conditional.
I'm not entirely sure since it's been a long time, but I think I was the one who got full permission for Fighter X along with Circles and Limited/Conditional for Kids Get Hit by Buses from crunchyco. Edit: Might have to do a little thread browsing to see if I can dig up my old post. Last edited by Ziergdsx18; 06-14-2011 at 02:13 PM.. |
