College education is the largest scam in U.S. history!
The video is a little over an hour long, but if you have just 3 minutes, please watch the intro:

Re: College education is the largest scam in U.S. history!
I actually have a feeling that my college intended on ripping our students off. We were forced to cut three key programs in our school just to have Ke$ha come to our school... The professors (fortunately not in my major) whom I've come across hardly show any effort to help their students academically, which is extremely frustrating for those who want to build a future.

Probably a silly question to ask, but did anyone else get redirected to this thread after voting?
Anyway, I'm already in college at the moment. Can't say too much about it, though, since I've only been in it for a week now. edit: never mind, wasn't just me.

It happened to me, too.
Doesn't matter. 'yawn.' We had this discussion not long ago. Personal responsibility is key in going into college. What moron expects a 20,000$ investment to require no insight before taking. ect ect ect.

I'm too lazy to watch the video, but...
People probably think college sucks because of all the expenses, and about 70% of the time they don't use their education to get a good paying job. |

Re: College education is the largest scam in U.S. history!
I watched the whole hour and 2 minutes...this video just made me regret going to college even more than I did already. Loans are a scary thing. I most likely would have been better off without college.

Re: College education is the largest scam in U.S. history!
loans are a horrible thing. the thought of getting so deep into debt is one of the things holding me back from going back to school. though i really want to go to college for the learning experience and not so much because of the money the career i could get from going to college would get me

College educations are investments - there are good ones and bad ones, so not all of them are scams as the video says.
Especially if you graduate from a top-tier university, you're likely to get back your money's worth. |

Re: College education is the largest scam in U.S. history!
The problem is so many people go to College not knowing what they want to do for a job, rather than what course looks nice. I was once talking with a girl at York University which shares my College's campus. She asked me what I was taking and I said "computer systems technology". She responded by asking if it was a post-grad of Computer Science and I said it was a College course (In Canada many people consider College to be a step below University although it's grossly false). She smirked at me like I was a dumbass so I asked what she was doing to which she replied "Sociology". I told her to have fun sucking cock for a living.
My education isn't a waste at all, however tuition is only ~$1'600 per semester and 2 semesters is from September to May and you can take another summer semester if you want to but I need to work in the summer to pay for that. I'm learning skills directly related to what I want to do and I can put them into practice right now, and can get me a job that pays pretty decently. People need to go into something worthwhile, not just some bull crap like Philosophy cause they don't know what to do with their lives. Post-Secondary education isn't something you need to do to become successful though. Somebody could on their own learn what I'm learning through the internet which especially for what I'm doing, isn't that hard at all and get certifications and even make up to $100+/hr if they get their CCIE certification. Even without all this all you need in this world is a motivated drive, and intelligence. With those two things you can do a lot, and is more valuable than any education you can buy.
