honestly I agree with Hayden and Mina when they say people are so vanilla about bs calls nowadays it's like people are afraid of ruining the perfect image of stepmania where you can be amazing for 2 seconds in a brag board post when you clearly bs'd your scores.

rhythm games have become a lalaland of let's be amazed at whatever fabricated achievements people circlejerk over to justify having wasted hours of their lives and get instant praise for something that gives you no genuine fulfillment in life aside from getting people sucking your dick for scores you purposely bullshitted what an amazing life you must have.

if a community does something weird and seemingly irrational, more often than not it's just an irrational cultural belief at the origin of it

what is jhlee's setup like?

any time someone has hugely varying scores across songs, my first guess is that they have some setup that differs from the norm. it could be that the setup he's using is unconventional in a way that allows for very good scores on some songs but not others

then again, I didn't get to see his streams, so I'm not sure how much this would make a difference

I know that I've played songs where I used all of my muscular endurance and bombed a song after not being sufficiently rested, then waited a bit only to dominate that song

or, maybe he was not familiar with the SM equivalent of harlem shake yet -- i.e. how it's displayed / timed relative to how it's timed on osu?

don't know how this would work in the scenario people are talking about, but perhaps these are useful explanations.

he has practically no motive to fake scores on SM of all places, considering this is a game where he gets the least amount of praise/attention and praise/attention is roughly the currency of these games as this is not an esport

it seems that the issue is that he destroyed a bunch of files, went over to reddit, and then tanked hard

personally I think he'd be good at harlem shake solely based on how he's able to hit endtime on bms

there's been a lot of crossover between osu!mania and stepmania recently, it's actually pretty refreshing

I think one motive would be that USA won the recent osu!mania world cup

just chiming in here, because i'm the one responsible for this particular thing

a.) jhlee and I had talked in the past before this retarded shit even started, and we were mutually chasing each others' scores, and when I say mutually, I mean that we were even actually talking at one point

b.) the whole recent thing with me score sniping wasn't even a deliberate thing, I was using jhlee as a benchmark for what I should be able to do and I played songs accordingly; certainly not anyone's fault that my success rate happened to be really high because of accuracy

c.) it's assumptions like this that make things hard to take, because unrelated stuff like this gets traced back to someone else when it didn't need to be, which is what prompted me to make this reddit post on the osugame reddit

like, how much more proof needs to be supplied that a good majority of us a.) don't give a shit about jhlee's skill and actually acknowledge the fact that he is a good player and b.) are just generally tired of his shit-tier attitude

I feel like keyboard shifting position is an unlikely problem. It's pretty easy to mitigate keyboard movement and on his level of play it's likely he has that figured out.
