Re: Music
Why is attaching quality to a genre necessary? Songs should be judged on a case-by-case basis.

Moved to media. Certainly not CT, but I'll let Squeek decide its fate there.

Re: Music
Hmmm I think good old fashioned rock and roll. I'm talking about bands like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
The way 3 or 4 guys could just create songs with SO much depth in them amazes me. Classical was great, but many instruments were needed, and I feel that kind of music was matched in the 60's by The Beatles. (heh... noisecore... ;P ) |

Re: Music
When you say rap, are you talking about actual rap, or like the crappy (imo) 50 Cent, etc. stuff? If you mean the first, I agree.
I am not really sure what genre this goes into, but anyone know Bright Eyes? I also think there is a lot of emotion in that too.

Re: Music
By far too subjective of a question, even though 8-bit VGM completely outweighs all arguments.

Re: Music
Out of stuff currently being produced, indie. It's a broad genre, I realize, but here's my thinking.
The spirit of rock and roll has always been that of independance and going against the establishment. Indie is that, in genre format, because to qualify as Indie rock, the band has to basically be on their own independant label. That, and a lot of the indie bands I've been listening to go from rockin' it out, to something incredibly laid back, with lyrics meant soley for their musical sound to stuff with deep meaning.

Re: Music
My taste in music changes, but right now I fine myself listening to a lot of artists classified as Psychedelic-Folk/Folktronic or Baroque Pop. Many of whom are being called members of the New Weird America movement.
The reason I find this genre of music so interesting is because it is based around experimentation. Folktronic in bridging the gap between electronic and acoustic orchestration. In response to what Laharl has stated, Psy-folk spurred from the indie movement, though personally I think the "Indie" label has been whored and now applies to bands that are mainstream. I listen to music that 99.99999999999% of the userbase has never heard of before, besides maybe linus.
I listen to mainstream hong kong music, which mostly ranges from being pop, some rock, and some hiphop. rofl shoot me
