"This is like saying he's negative 80 vs negative 70 on this point [couldn't catch last word]."

I think that, what you refer to in your own words "willingness to compromise" on climate change science (which requires acknowledging its existence), next to 1) outright denying the existence of such; 2) attempting to abolish the EPA completely; 3) moving away from a clean and/or renewable energy energy infrastructure and instead regressing to fossil fuels and natural gas; and 4) making a post-election promise to withdraw from global climate change deals, is a much, much more dramatic difference between negative 70 and negative 80, in terms of proportionality.

I mean there are a huge host of things that bug me about his platform; most of them aren't really specific to him, so much as unobstructed republican legislative power. But this one, should be a huge fucking deal to anyone. Yes, there is absolutely a difference between attempting to gradually transition to a different energy paradigm, than actively trying to revert the US to the environmental policies of the 1950s, and it isn't the difference that you're suggesting.

1 was bush and going to happen with any republican, that's party platform shit
2 is not happening
the opposite of 3 didn't even happen with obama so I can't even say it's happening with a republican
4 was going to happen with any republican, that's party platform shit

4th parties (nonprofit interests and so on) are going to force someone's hand with climate change and no one at the highest levels of politics -- no one -- can be trusted to make decisions with anything resembling scientific literacy on the issue

Yeah, as I said, most of my main concerns with Trump aren't his unique terribleness, or whatever. I think any of the GOP candidates from this particular crop would have been pretty much equally disastrous.

Probably not. I don't see why couldn't significantly hamper its ability to enforce its regulations, though.

Can't say for sure either; but in the absence of other reasons, why would I want someone who's explicitly stated that as their goal?

Yeah, again, I'm not bothered by Trump more than, say, Cruz. Although it's deeply troubling that that slithering fuck Mike Pence is probably going to be pulling the strings behind him.
