Last Showcase of the Year
Well, school is finally over, and as alot of you know I showcase my artwork that I've done over the semester. This time around, I made quite an improvement on doing portraits, which was the focus of the class, although my main goal was to make hair look more realistic, along with better proportioning, as that was one of my weaker points. Enjoy .^_^.
The semester started out with some nude models, i thought this one was particularly well done in the structural sense, and because it was done in exactly 7 minutes. My sad excuse of a Johnny Depp, theres alot of things wrong with this one, but at this point, I'm still trying to figure things out on my own. approx. 2.5 hours to draw This is more of a test picture more than anything, just to work with hair and how it should flow. approx. 35mins to draw Various sketches for eye shading approx. 25mins each And now for my Final for the class, we had to draw the dreaded self portrait, using nothing more than a mirror, so no pictures to look at. This is one of my best pieces to date, simply because of the vast amount of time spent on making it as true-to-life as i could, I spent just under a month working on this, with 30+ hours on it, I believe it was time well spent. I even took it to Kinko's and had copies made lol, just in case the original is ever damaged. I have alot of other doodles and sketches in-between, but I thought these were the better ones I suppose, and for those of you who haven't seen my other pieces, check out these http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=46520 http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=37931 feedback is appreciated ^_^ |

Wow. Those are absolutely amazing. My favorites are #2 and #5 with the last one being my favorite. I really like how you have yourself looking away, and there's just something about it. You can draw eyes very well too, and I really like the girl's eye in the 4th drawing.
Nice Work. Keep it up!

Re: Last Showcase of the Year
Well done.
I used to be able to draw really well, but that died. I like the self-portrait the best. -Sel

There all amazing but I think the last one is leagues ahead of the rest. That last picture is like photo quality. PHOTO QUALITY. It's insane.

Re: Last Showcase of the Year
You're really good at drawing faces. I've always been bad at that.
The last one is pretty incredible. Props for that; the facial portion looks real, with the eye being especially impressive. Johnny is impressive too. You really screwed up the nose, the lips and the right side of his face XD but the detail in the picture is really great, I am again impressed by the eyes. I see potential in this picture. Keep up the good work

You rawk much sawks, Jamie. I pay absolutely no attention to detail (and I absolutely fail at it). My opinion, you drawl much better than I and that's quite obvious to see
All of the pieces look outstanding and your capability to capture details in an efficient manner is just wow. Good job, but why stop here...? I think I speak for all when I say we want moar plz.

Honestly, this is just breath taking. The self portrait really shows how much hard work and effort you put into it. I admire how well you draw your eyes. |

The las pic especially blew my mind. Good work. You get a Grandi approval point, for whatever that's worth.

Re: Last Showcase of the Year
Nice work 8) I think 4 is really cool, and obviously the last one is really nice. You can tell you put a lot of work in to it. What are the dimensions of the paper on that one? Was it really big and you cut it down?

Re: Last Showcase of the Year
Dimensions were 18x24 on the final, trimmed a bit, but not by much.
