Whoring songs.

I know a lot of you out there whore songs to get an AAA or FC, or whatever it is on a song. I know you can play that song all day, but at the end of the day you finally get that desired score. Totally worth it, in my opinion.

The reason I made this thread is to ask, how do you keep the determination alive? How are you so persistent? Do you have rage moments during these sessions of whoring?

I know for me, I can only play a song maybe up to the 10th - 20th time before I get really upset that I can't aaa/fc/whatever. I give up. I get really upset because 1) It seems impossible for me to AAA/FC/whatever and 2) I'm giving up...even though I know if I keep going I'm just gonna break something.

Do you guys just shrug each failed attempt off? Do you do something in order to make whoring songs more...fun? Do you take breaks in between so many attempts? I mean, how do you guys manage to do it??

I believe whoring on FFR is very different from SM.
In SM I aim to have less CBs or more MA. I could care less about the AAA (because MA is cooler).

In FFR I aim to get the AAA, and it's more frequent I restart the song (which is bad IMO).. but I consider FFR bullshit anyways.. it kills MA.

Play til I get mini-blocks especially if I know I can nail it. Once I keep screwing up on the same section, I'll move onto a new song because I would rather not have crippling EHHS or HA blocks that took me YEARS to overcome.

To properly answer your question, if I don't get it in enough, let's say 25 or 30 tries, then I shrug off and play another song. And having rage moments are bad because you lower self confidence thus you get worse everytome. I keep my cool and switch to another song/game. Usually it's of the same difficulty.

I usually play a new song once or twice and i keep the score i get :P. I was lucky on a few lv 12 and got the fc right away. Other than that, constantly playing the same song causes me to have more mental blocks.

I start doing worse after about the 3rd play, so I just play a bunch of 10s in a row or something. If I start to suck at a specific difficulty range, I try a different difficulty. If my eyes/head/hands start hurting I do something else entirely.

Yeah, something like this...

But if you keep whoring a song, you're going to get mental blocks on certain parts and you'll just end up performing worse over time if you lose your cool and rage. The best thing to do is calm down, take a short break and just stay focused and work on it. xD

One thing I'd tweak in for myself though is at 50+ plays, if I choke near the end, I'll flop onto my bed and start making very disturbing noises while proceeding to rip off all of my clothes

- Play song normally.
- Play song without sound if music is unbearable over concentration to AAA.
- Play song on mirror if chart is more friendly on other side.
- Play song with different noteskin if lol background.
- Play while taping keys hard.
- Play while taping keys lightly.
- Play while trying to hit keys early.
- Play while trying to hit keys late.
- Isolate file on an Engine and play X section tons of time until fix.
- Identify patterns that cannot be AAAd due to mental blocks/lack of skills.
- Play while trying to separate patterns in a different manner. @ Nova Pulser mini-jacks can be AAAd a lot more easier by seeing the patterns as staircases.
- Consider using a 2nd style like index or key setup(scissor spread? QSLP?) where keys are closer/farther.
- If you're really close but keep derping consider taking a good night of sleep, eating well or whatever and coming back in better shape. There's also usually a peak during the day where you may play slightly better, it may be just good enough to make you get that lucky AAA.

If mental blocks:

- Separate patterns even further mentally and fix it/mirror it again/play songs randomly to slightly forget the chart and hope you randomly nail it/turn off sound to avoid associating music with a pattern.

- Play the song 200+ times until you reach a point where you don't care anymore about how good you do to kill any form of stress/pressure. This may be useful to get over stupid things like being stressed over a token unlock such as Otaku[Oni].

- Play with autofail 0-1-1-1-1 for a while, note where you mess up and why.
- Take off autofail later because that's only temporary useful.

- Stop playing that song and come back to it later if everything seems to fail.

If lack of skills

Try to find ways to compensate lack of skills @ jumptrilling/hit as hand/keep stamina and attack the hard pattern/keeping hands close to keys for fast trills etc.

If it still fail

- Stop FFR, play Stepmania and come back later.

Repeat process.

Going for AAA on a 10:

If SDG in first couple of tries, think "I can do this", continue playing over and over. If get a good in the first half, restart so as not to waste time. If get a good in the second half just play to end.

If no SDG after 5-10 tries, think "I haven't even AAA'd all the 9s yet". Play a 9. Do really well on the 9 because used to the difficulty of 10s.

Going for a FC on an 11/12:

Basically same as above but SDG = less than 5 CBs. Normally don't bother trying to FC 12s.

Experimenting with different key setups (lol AIM Anthem) is probably the one thing I do to make it more interesting. Oh, offset too.

right now I get too much lag but when I didn't I played for points and the skill aspects as equally as I could. I will play a song I can aaa for about 10 minutes at the most, then move on to another song I have the potential to aaa for another 10 minutes until I get one or its been like an hour. After that I would play fmo or fgo songs and just try to combo and get grandtotal for like an hour and go back to aaa's or call it a day

I can't play a song more than five times if it's over two minutes. If it's less I'll whore for a AAA because I have confidence I'm just derping and can AAA it with a few more tries. But if it's longer I'm like meh

I usually block something within 5 tries. If it's not blocked then I'm lucky as hell and usually choke at the end or something cause I'm shaking, then I can't play cause I'm shaking lmao

I've whored songs for hours back in the day. Whoring causes mindblocks usually, and that was always a big problem. Since then, though, we've had mirror added and later on that is what I used to stop mindblocks. I'd change to mirror and back every few plays which really seems to help.
