[SM 5.0.10] Crippling Bug in Edit Mode
Hey guys. Recently I've been getting the nerve to head back into simfiling (not for FFR, just for kicks), and to do so, I've got myself a fresh install of SM5. And it's been working fine...until now, when I tried to create a new song from scratch and edit it.
Basically, in the song behaves in Edit Mode like it has different, totally disconnected offset values, changing for each point I start a test run at. Here's an illustrative video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiD4...ature=youtu.be I play the file from the beginning, and it's ridiculously early. I play the file from a certain point and, in contrast to my shitty playing, it's near-perfectly on sync (as evidenced by the beat markers after the steps.) When played in-game, the file takes the former, wrong sync. This is perhaps the biggest dump any version of SM has ever taken on me and it's making it impossible to do anything (I no longer have DDRream and I'm pretty sure it died before SM5 anyway), so I would really appreciate any help for fixing this bug. Here is a zip of the simfile in case it's something I've done wrong. Please note that this file started with me copying the SSC from another song and editing the values.

if i remember correctly this has something to do with the mp3 your using
if it has a varying bitrate then sm5 can't handle it hence the issue try converting it to a constant bitrate in something like audacity and use that in sm5, has fixed all of the issues i've had

Stop using variable bit rate mp3s. Use something like audacity to re-encode the song to a constant bit rate or ogg.

Yep, turns out it was VBR. Re-encoded the song into an OGG and after some finagling with filenames, the issue is fixed. Thanks guys!
