NEED MEGA HELP!!
Ok, I was going through all my SM and DWI sites and went to their forums. Then I see a topic and inside it, someone says that there is a StepMania step maker. I don't see it! Why do I not see anything like that?

If you have a Stepmania Final program there is a step editor built right into the program. Just go to the edit/synch (something like that) in the main menu and select a song to edit it. I usually start out a song using the notepad method because I'm so accustomed to doing it and can do it in about 5 seconds and then go into the program's edit feature and create the steps there. If you need to know the notepad methods, use the step creation guide in the FAQs. If you do not see such a feature on your main menu, it's time you update your SM program.
The DWI program has editor features such as test play, replay, etc., which you can find the methods for in the program's readme file. However, it doesn't feature a step editor/creator per sey. |

I use Xstep, which is surprisingly fun to do. You just get the song, name the song and artist, find the gap and bpm using a built in timer, and either edit the steps manually or use a built in "Step Grabber". When using the step grabber, it plays the song and you just press the buttons that you want as it goes and BOOM! theyre recorded and you just do a bit of minor editing after that. Voila! a song with surprisingly smooth arrow beats.

I know I've gotta try something different. The DWI method isn't working for me.

Well, back in my day, the .dwi method was all we had! Young whipper-snappers! I'm surprised Jewpin hasn't jumped in with his elderly perspective yet.
I just use the Stepmania edit feature. I seem to have no problems with it. |
