Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Anyone know what that awesome jazz song was during setup before the Sonic '06 run?
Damn that was good music. I wish they had a box showing the song that's playing...

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
It does tell you what the song is, but only when it first starts playing. It really should stay up the whole time though =/

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to speedrunning and have only ever done one game (nitronic rush) and I'm looking for games to speedrun that are ~$5 and have more than one person speedrunning it. Any type of game is ok, I'm just looking for another thing to try out. Thank you

I've been playing those games a lot myself, so I've picked up a few tricks that you might find helpful.

What about run time? Me personally, I don't think I'd be down to do a run that's hours long, my style is the same as ffr, I prefer shorter bursty stuff. |

My other favorite (actually 2 stars) is whomp fortress red coins and 100 coin star, https://youtu.be/yP1GjLXWDa0?t=3m48s, to be able to do the sequence at 4:02 is actually alot harder than it looks (there are other strats that are slower though so its not that hard to get into). Honestly, in terms of content and technical skill, I don't think another speedrun game matches sm64, maybe super metroid. Shit I just remember another disgusting star.. The cool thing about 30 star is you basically clear all the fast stars upstairs, and then do a ton of interesting stars in the basement part. https://youtu.be/yP1GjLXWDa0?t=13m30s it'll take alot of practice to pull this trick off though, I couldn't ever do it lol Last edited by Dinglesberry; 07-28-2016 at 07:00 PM.. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Kirby 64 is great, I loved that game too, mixing all the power ups was super fun.
Not a huge fan of speedrunning it though, don't you just get meteor and fly through the levels? For me it's too linear of a game to speedrun, but I dunno, never really seen it ran before. |

So it goes more in on the routing than it seems Boss strats, certain powerup combinations are better in certain places (flame sword for W4/W5 bosses, fireworks for a few W6 rooms, bomb for another boss, etc) It's a neat game, relatively simple run once you've learned all of the routing, definitely some RNG involved for a few of the bosses. My friend is really close to nabbing 2nd place on the leaderboards though 1st place is so very far ahead haha SA2 on the other hand is like oh look lol broken game let's do cray-Z stuffz |
