2. There is a very clear difference between learning something/reiterating the concept in your own words and straight-up jacking someone else's work with minor modifications. Plagiarism with respect to essay-writing is bad because you're basically taking someone ELSE'S analysis or someone ELSE'S words and simply dressing them up a bit differently so there isn't a direct match to make it obvious that it was copied. I've NEVER been accused of plagiarizing any essay and I use a pretty articulate vocabulary for such things. Most of the time, when a teacher calls a student out for plagiarizing, it's usually for a good reason unless the teacher is genuinely ignorant.

Re: Damn School
If you concede to writing another essay it is just going to reinforce their belief that you cheated. Fight it at all costs.
Also I would transfer to a public school if the public school system where you live doesn't offer terrible opportunities. |

This is mainly why I say "fight it to the death" if you're legitimately innocent. Conceding to doing additional work based on a false premise only shows that you're admitting fault on some level. If I wrote an essay and a teacher told me to do more work because he felt it wasn't mine, I'd honestly tell him to stick it (in a more polite fashion, of course -- unless the teacher was being vitriolic, in which case I'd take the matter to a higher authority).

Re: Damn School
There's a difference between someone who knows it all, and a know it all.
A know it all will act like he knows everything and give some made up answer to anything he doesn't know. If someone who knows it all doesn't know something, they will look it up and not give an answer to something that don't know about. |

Re: Damn School
I just spoke (less than an hour ago) with the assistant principal.
It's official. Guys, the paper isn't being accepted on the basis that it's too good. No plagarism. It's just too good. "A high school student didn't write that" "You're not an A+ english student" Me: That's insulting my intelligence. Assistant Principal: Sorry. And for compensation, they're having me read a book on the religion topic over vacation, then telling a religioun teacher what the topic of the book was. Tommorow is the last day before Christmas break, the last day before vacation. Should I say something? Honestly, my work is being rejected on the basis that it's too good.

Re: Damn School
/thread
Seriously... I recently started writing about the relation between taking religion way too seriously, and having lesser intelligence. This is just too perfect. Thank you for the awesome thread. Keep fighting till they run out of false logic. |

Call them out on it. You've done nothing wrong, you shouldn't be punished.

Re: Damn School
if this is actually true than you still clearly have options at this point; taking the matter higher up the food chain is your best bet imo, since at some point someone with a degree of objectivity will take up the case. such a thing can easily be the basis for a legal claim if it gets way out of control but if the proper channels are gone through i see no reason why it should get to that.
tbh though the whole situation seems a little sketchy at this point lol, especially if you're not going to let anyone see the paper
