Re: Facebook to be hacked
I've only used facebook mainly to chat with family (during the weekdays since my hours are really stupid) & keep up with people from boot camp (lol). I can live without either for a few weeks, so no bigge.

Re: Facebook to be hacked
Facebook most likely won't get hacked. I mean we're talking about a billion dollar industry here. I'm pretty sure security will be extremely tight which would make it a daunting task for anyone to break through the system.

If he reveals his identity later on, I'd like to see that scenario played out.

What makes you think this is even -by- the actual people who make up Anonymous? Isn't that the whole point of being anonymous? |

Skilled hackers? Not quite. The original instigator gets the attention of other members of Anonymous. Then a chatroom (say tinychat) is created, and they communicate through there. Ddosing takes the form of pinging the target website using cmd- flooding it with useless packets until the servers can't handle the load. Filling Bieber's page with pornography is a matter of guessing passwords through the utilisation of programs and *educated* guesses from the wonderful human mind. Most attacks involve brute force. |

Re: Facebook to be hacked
You try to belittle them. Alone they are nothing more than kids with programs, as a collective they can pose a serious threat.
Brute forcing amongst dozens of users won't take nearly as long as a single hacker. They make their mark by working collectively. I'm not saying it's a reason to fear them, but do take them seriously when they choose to act as a group. The attack may last only a short while before they're caught, but they are capable of far more damage than they actually do. They're just pussy about it because of prison time. After a certain point the actions they commit are no longer just breaking the law, but become acts of terrorism or near that level. Next to no one smart enough to pull off the kind of stuff they do is dumb enough to go to prison for years because of malicious actions on the interwebz. They'll keep it "small" but noticed. Less jail time if caught. The internet is scary vulnerable. As a collective society we just have so many rules in place on it that it's not worth the risk of doing certain things. Stuff on the internet is unfortunately tracked very carefully, and every proxy/vpn you use keeps records of your connections. You are rarely ever truly anonymous. If I wanted I could easily pull password hashes off of FFR, and set a program to decrypting those password hashes to plaintext. And if you want the job done quickly, use your GPU rather than your CPU to brute force the passes. You'll turn a 3 month job of password searching into a single day. Your GPU has incredible processing potential vs your CPU. It's just *incredibly* illegal to even go about attaining the password hashes off of any database. Most people that have knowledge of how to do so only have that knowledge because they want to know how to do it, not because they actually plan to do it. It's interesting stuff to learn if you care, but scary if you intend to actually do it. Hell, it's scary knowing how easy it is to do it. If it weren't for the law cracking down so strictly on certain types of e-threats, the internet would be a far more desolate place than it is now, left only to the coding monkeys. Anonymous is not an organization to fear in the least. They merely try to make their voice heard, and gain publicity about their current social agenda/political cause/personal vendetta. None of those pale faced, LCD tanned, basement dwelling mama boys want to spend more than a minute in a prison cell with Bubba, and they know just how far they can push the limit before ending up with Bubba usually. Just be thankful the internet has such strict regulations on personal/confidential information, and that no group weaker than 25% of the Earths population (unless government based) will overthrow any major website for more than a few days~ edit: just because most of my post was serious, i don't want people to think i actually believe 25% of the worlds population would only be able to down a website for a few days... that is what people call "hyperbole".
