Default My uninteresting story / progress of 4 years producing

This month marks 4 years since i started writing music. Throughout those years i spent hours every day just writing trying to get better and build up skills and i've been posting my stuff on this forum alone since i started, so i thought i'd make a little progression thread of thus far

___

2012:

First songs i ever made were posted here, songs gone though.
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=124144

Started off on Newgrounds, absolute shit in early/mid 2012
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/490390

Later 2012 pushing through shitty track after shitty track, first 'big break' to me occurred after remixed a sims song, tweeting at sims && they retweeted & commented on song

By the end of 2012 i'd gotten quite a bit into hiphop, and would basically just go on to make hiphop tracks till 2014ish

___

2013:

Started off only writing low-budget hiphop beats with direct samples. Had full album come out, was shit.

Mid 2013, started going by OHD. Had another big break in my eyes when Buzzfeed used one of my songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t55_ss4Aj4

Progressed, practiced, went silent for a few months, came out with 2 EPs in late 2013. One of which had a song on it called Priorities

___

2014:

Mid 2014, Youtube promo channel called "holy chill" finds Priorities song, posts to their channel & soundcloud, shows lots of people my song. Lots of people upload/use priorities. Proudest moment. Love seeing people do what they love doing to something i created
Parkour
Cover
Kendama
Motocross
Guitar
Parenting
Juggling
Livin

Late 2014, stop affiliating with OHD, decide to just go by real name. Practice writing every day, don't really release anything. Just focusing on getting better. Switched from hiphop influence stuff to more electronic just out of interest in electronic music.

___

2015

Silent year. Kept practicing lots, didn't release anything much. Really found my sound during this year and got confident in a lot more stuff.

___

2016

Now, finally decided to come out from just practicing and make a discography for myself under my regular name. EP in works, 2/3 done ish. Got a manager, been practicing and practicing and practicing

Hopefully you hear some progression/difference between 2012 and now!
That's bout it

Dude! Thanks for sharing this!! I've been at a loss with my creative energy in the past year. It comes in waves with long absences between, but when the energy comes back around, I'm itching to utilize it. But I've grown a little tired of my visual art style and I'm giving that a break for a couple of years so that I can reapproach it from a fresh perspective. However, I've been noodling around with a couple of different DAWs and I'm becoming more inspired to explore my musical expressions. The Sims remix made me so happy and maybe even sparked some kind of synapse about approaching musical production. Out of curiosity, might I ask which DAWs you have used, and what you loved/could not stand about them?

yoo,
I'm pretty sure all of us here love every track you reveal.
You're in a place where most of us small producers want to be at, and it's amazing what you've achieved by putting in the right effort.

I'm hearing your music in more and more places and I think it's rad that you make people happy with what you yourself love to do as well; making music.
I tell you I'll make you proud too, just gotta do some stuff... and get some mula, but I'll do it! I've said this before but, you inspire me. so keep doing your stuff man!!!
