so ive been asking around for help, advice, pointers. wich were helpfull but i still lack the knowledge i need to perfectly step a decent chart. i collect simfile packs im up to 243 packs so far excludeing ddr mixes so ive had time to study this game and i believe i make ingenius, creative charts just my approach is askew. well im only here 2day asking maybe if a experienced simfile creator wants 2 start a sim trianing topic where maybe weekly asignments are based on differnt lessons to cover all base's on simfile creation. pls ive been searching for a mentor for like 3 years now pls help an old ffr mem out^^ protomanxl=zagbag |

As far as weekly topic lessons, I still have some fleshing out to do with that idea, but if you need help, feel free to send messages my way whenever you feel like it. What sort of things were you looking to learn? Basics of how to get a chart running and working, or actual skill put into making a fun chart?

Dir en Grey Obscure Hard Version The core problem with this chart is the BPM and sync. Typically speaking, virtually every song will be composed of 4ths/8ths/16ths. Here and there, you'll find a song using 4ths/12ths. By plugging your song into a BPM analyzer, I found your song to be approximatly 110BPM, not 45. What you want to do is: 1. Line up the song's offset such that the first real note lines up on the first quarter (4th) note. 2. Place 30-50 quarter notes. 3. Play your song, and note the sync: ---- If the first notes are off sync, your offset is wrong. ---- If the first notes are on sync, but later drift off sync, the BPM is wrong. ------- If, to hit the notes on time, you have to speed up your tapping, this means the BPM is too fast, and you should try reducing it. ------- If, to hit the notes on time, you have to slow down your tapping, the BPM is too slow, and should be increased. For your spread-style patterns, try having a bit of variation in the jumps themselves. Gee Similar problem here. Having actually written a chart for Gee myself, I know the BPM to be 100, as opposed to 650. Try the same things as above, and have 16th notes. (Side note: It's okay to have your chart be straight 600+ BPM, if that's what you want, though rhythmically speaking, you should get it working at its base BPM (100), then use "Expand 2x" to go to 200 -> 400 -> 800, once you're sure the sync is good) KARA KARA has the correct BPM (90), however the offset is wrong (ie, 4th notes don't land on the beat). Actually, you know what I just noticed? You have 0.000 offset for all of your charts. That's probably the issue - you're trying to use a single solid BPM to make up for the song's offset. Rhythmically, KARA is your best chart here. Apply the same advice as above to all three charts, and post back here or send a message if you need help. Good luck!

Re: needing major help^^
!! Thank you so much well dir en grey i made 3 years ago while recoding in session at x2
i made GEE a year ago and recorded in session but rerecorded till pattern was playable. KARA i placed 4th notes and played and adjusted the bpm till it felt right and tried making sure the notes were bland but somewhat on beat^^ but see i made all 30 files of mine in recorded session in one sitting just grab a bpm and go^^ so kara would be my actual attempt at placing beats opposed to freehand charting^^ # http://www.mediafire.com/?7uxs8u66os06osl heres the 3 videos for them i make all my files to videos normally but upload separately.<3 thanks ffr i can always count on you 2 help someone in need^^ Last edited by protomanxl; 01-7-2011 at 03:37 PM.. |

Re: needing major help^^
-You should be using the bpm 164, not 163.98. Your sync slowly drifts off as the chart goes on.
-Patterns are all over the place in a not pleasing fashion. As in, they'll be easy or dull for a long time then suddenly an ultra hard jack or something comes in. Here are some tips I'd offer: Long jacks are unfun, jumpstream and stream are fun if they can be easily hit. Anything repetitive isn't fun. You're making a dump, so be creative! Don't let anything limit you, as long as it's doable! I have a dump on Thirdstyle that you can try if you're curious as to how I handle dumping. www.thirdstyle.com/play and do 'Thirdstyle Ultimate Diss Freestyle'. It's quite hard so you'll want to figure out what a-mod to use and stuff first (I recommend about 1.5x of your stepmania C-mod)

Re: needing major help^^
99% of the time you can round it to the nearest whole number and it works
ah, I see, you use a double setup. makes sense then
