Re: FFR Suggestions
I don't think the idea of giving credits for a sightread accomplishment is a good one. I do think it would be cool to give extra credits for beating your own personal best rank (as long as it's above a certain percent, like say 50% of the 1st place score) or getting an FC or AAA. I think TS does something like this.

Thus not actually being a sightread score sometimes. But aaa multiplier would be kinda neat. but even then the credit cap is 60\o/ This would probably be most useful for low tier players to gain credits.

Re: FFR Suggestions
a random button on the velocity engine that you can press without pressing the "songs" tab would be nice so long as it follows whatever restrictions you already have in place.
even better add it to the results screen so you can just keep playing.

Re: FFR Suggestions
Just remove the credit cap already.. if you play 8 minute songs, you should get 8 min worth of credits..

Might I suggest adding a "save replay" option to multiplayer? That'd be awesome..

If that was ever going to happen, it would have already. Wish it could happen though, would make certain files much easier.

Re: FFR Suggestions
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but please read this and think about what I'm saying.
The credit cap is 60 credits on Velocity's engine. What is the reasoning for this, honestly? Don't tune me out just yet. Let's say you accumulate 5,700,000 points in a song (I played Fury of the Storm without a credit cap) and rack up 162 credits from the one play. Why is that any different then playing a few songs to get 5.7 mil points and 162 credits? You've still earned the points and the credits... why does it make a difference if the points and credits are from one song or lots? "We need to control the number of credits that are generated" is a statement that needs to apply to the accounts holding infinite credits and donating to things, rather than the active, playing community. While we're at it, can we limit max scores from songs to 2 million as well?

The people playing songs that in reality should give over 60 credits, should get those credits. I would imagine the majority of the credit overflowing probably does come from donations by those who can change their credit count (as justin_ator says). So when major events are held, that is really where the issue of credit overflow occurs. All a credit cap really does is deter people that are trying to build up credits from playing longer songs in the game.

Re: FFR Suggestions
Here's one: raw score dashboard for future official tournaments.
That's right, raw score. With a dashboard system it would be very easy to track raw scores - just modify the code that records a score to the dashboard (I am 100% sure I could implement this if I had the code, btw). The tournament would then run off raw score, which (as we have seen in unofficial tourns) makes people try harder, especially on files that are tough to hit or combo. In fact, someone who can't FC one part of a song but still has the skill to compete with other players has a chance of getting through the round. Note that normal score recording would still be done with combo, so the level ranks wouldn't reflect the tournament ranking - and why do they need to, after all?. Also, and this is a completely separate suggestion from a friend, we could start off the first division with a pretty hard song (on the level of one of the last few rounds). Just like the Brutality tournaments it will make sure that raw playing ability is factored in rather than just PA. Also, and this is pretty useful, it would help eliminate sandbaggers - if someone gets an amazingly good score on that first hard song, they probably need to be pushed up a division, unless they're in D6, in which case they are awesome.

Coding it into the dashboard should be as simple as changing the code that references the particular the table that displays your total score (change from total to raw, since they -are- both stored, as seen here, for example). I don't think any other code would need to be changed since the tables sort in descending order based off of score, and display the appropriate accuracy counts without having the combo. So yeah, it should be a relatively quick fix. That's just within the dashboard, though. Differentiating between the best raw score and total score is another issue. Starting the lowest division off with a harder song definitely would eliminate the sandbagging issue for the next tournament, but what about other divisions? You'd have to push into some pretty decent extremes to prove sandbagging, and people still might be able to coast by if they have enough skill to fake a score that just barely makes it by. It's pretty hard to just kill off sandbaggers, unfortunately. EDIT: going to add this for clarity -- in the raw scores page, it does show your raw total, but it's based off of your best saved PA through total score. Re: FFR Suggestions
Since when has the official tourney running off combo scoring been a "novelty"? If anything, raw scoring for placement is the development that's novel, and it's only thanks to several Dossar alts that this idea has even caught on.
I would like to point out, however, that glancing through the dashboard scores provides anecdotal evidence that having Ben syndrome with otherwise monstrous PA is a non-issue as far as the official tournament goes, especially in the higher divisions. As for sandbagging, better to root them out early while they can still be bumped up. Perhaps have all entrants play a "placement song" because glancing through level ranks will naturally make someone look more impressive than they are on any given day. This could also have the added benefit of providing more help in deciding borderline cases. |

Re: FFR Suggestions
Maybe we can just up the requirement for the 'official'? Instead of just having it X gameplays or smth.
Participants for the Official imo should have been those well known in the FFR community and fairly active. This would have possibly rid the issue of 'unknown legit players' that none of us know well. ex: Soulwar (Not saying anything bad about you~ just picking on you hehe) I honestly have never seen this profile before the tourney. All this person's post are only in the 7th Official Tourney Thread. hmm And, apparently, he met the requirements for Xgameplays, but they are nearly 2 years old according to Soulwar. (once again, just picking on ya~) I was thinking of uping the Xgameplays to 1000.Ya, 1fxcking000 I'm sure that would give us a waaay better look at how good someone is, and view how many restarts they do for each song. And, it will take some time to get 1k gp. Unless they just whore the fxck outa one song for some reason for 17 hours straight and get 1bil gt for vrofl................................. Some forum post would be nice too. Not terribly concerned about it. Just, maybe if they atleast posted in the in the New to FFR? Say Hello Here! or something. Just... one post or smthng. Maybe even if they are a well known ProChatter. We can't just let people join just by numbers. So, suggestions here are: More game-plays Fairly known by the community
