Glove also rejected negative bpm files in ODI3 also iirc, all of the xmod files in that are in it can be played on cmod fine (orbital comes to mind). imo, i don't mind xmod files (i actually like playing them from time to time) just as long as both cmod and xmod players can play them without any stupid bugs or other stuff happening.
Besides, the only people who would even download this pack are already playing cmod almost 100% of the time rofl |

yo saying xmod files should be cmod compatible is a pretty reasonable request. 3.9/3.95 don't handle negative bpms well and i totally get that. Sucks that we still have that issue when SM5 is around, but I still haven't adopted that so w/e
also that xmod file i sent in was purely a joke I made while challenging myself to make the dumbest xmod file I possibly could lol |

Someone should release an xmod only pack with some really cool songs and have xmod tournaments. 100% sure that would make xmods really popular for a while.

I believe MacGravel tried to start one a while back but it didn't really go anywhere because not a lot of people seem to put in the effort to trick their files completely out with good BPM gimmicks.

You'll have to change the entire mindset of xmod playing if you want to see something happen, and right now the mindset is, "Not many people play xmods, they are specialty files that'll only cater to a few, and it is not expected that interest will be garnered beyond that." Think you can change those tides? I'd like to myself, but I'm not sure how to either. As for everyone else, they seem pretty comfortable with 4k... It's probably due to a difference in effort for both making xmod files AND playing xmod files. The outcome of an xmod file can be incredibly neat, but it's not gratifying enough to the masses. Those are my 2c. Last edited by bmah; 05-19-2014 at 06:47 PM.. |

Might send Mudkip after fixing it later today, and maybe making a dump out of Crasher-Vania but that's debatable and completely unsure of doing. Might also finish Punishment (the one I linked back in yolo2) but gotta fix up a list of files I may or may not send to this pack (kinda like how I'm doing for vgmp4) so welp, expect that later today.

Scintill- Funny thing is we were actually considering including both short and long versions for several other charts in the pack. From our perspective we didn't really see any negative to including short versions along side their longer versions but maybe we just didn't think of anything. Any thoughts?

As promised, reviews!
[oldCartoon] Little Star - Accepted Super catchy songs and fun JS patterns. Can't really go wrong here. [T0M] Existance - Accepted Neat chart with a lot of cool stuff going for it. My only complaint is that 51.450 being a grace note instead of a jump feels kinda wrong but otherwise nothing to complain about. [Alioth] Red Rize - Conditional Still has some problems with being overlayered and awkward in a lot of spots. There's a few too many to go over individually but a lot of these bursts end up being more annoying than fun, partly due to the sheer quantity of them. Just tone the really awkward ones down and you'll be fine here. The bursts just feel way too intense compared to the song, mostly. [Scintill] The Alchemist (cut) - Accepted This is pretty funny by itself without that huge lead in that the other one had. I like, though I'm almost afraid few people will play the full one because of this. It can't hurt to have both, but its your call, if I had to take just one I'd take this one as opposed to the longer one. [Scintill] Scary Halloween Show - Accepted This is really really neato. In my opinion though, if you were to make a short version of a chart, this one needs it a lot more than The Alchemist does. I think the full length experience is great but a short version would be nice for people who don't want to play a six and a half minute dump. It really is quite the dump though, I had a lot of fun playing it even on my shitty membrane board and even though I was super rusty. Really interesting file, which is impressive for the length. |
