I'm going to be pretty upset if Shaw gets anything more than a fine if Weber gets off without a suspension.

I guess I have to root for the Kings since they're basically all Flyers from 5 years ago =/

I shudder at the thought that Canada's hopes for the championship basically rest on Ottawa now. (assuming the Canucks don't get their **** together)
I love my Senators... but its gonna be a real tough battle

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
It's ok if no Canadian team wins, if you look back at when Chicago won the cup a couple year ago 90% of the team were Canadian born players and if I'm not mistaken there are still quite a few on there, so I still consider it a win/win situation.

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
Boston had all 4 or 5 non-Canadian players on their team.
Look at almost any team in the league. At least half their players are Canadian. Except maybe Detroit. |

Ironically enough, half of the Canadiens players aren't from Canada.

60% of the nhl is Canadian so that's no surprise

Loved watching the second period of Van-LA. That anger's starting to boil over, Quick has taken Thomas's place as bogeyman, their power play is still nonexistent, and Henrik Sedin got absolutely CLOCKED, reminding me of how the Wings and Avalanche had their rivalry touched off. Yeah, he played a two and a half minute shift afterward, but you could see in his skating that he just wasn't the same guy.

Hell yes go Ottawa. Flyers haven't beaten the Rangers since February, 2010. I'd love to see them go down early.

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
Being Canadian doesn't make a team worth supporting. You can be Canadian and still be unskilled and classless. I like to support individual players more than teams or nations.

the fanbase and the community are what's important in a team, and being canadian makes that a huge deal

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
Well ****.
Butler did a fine job in replacing Alfredsson. A better game tonight than the first two, thats for damn sure. Anderson made me proud tonight as well. And as much as I don't like saying it, Boyle has been a big difference in these games, and it showed tonight. Blocked shots, a goal, and multiple setups/hits... impressive stuff. And kudos to Lundqvist, he was performing very well.

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
All I was trying to say was if I have to choose between Ottawa and Vancouver for winning the cup I rather go with whoever has my next favorite Canadian born players. In that case it would mean a toss up between Pittsburgh (only for Crosby) and Blackhawks (mainly for Toews). Boston I know has a lot of Canadians but most of them are the type of players I don't like to see in today's game (Lucic and Marchand especially).

Re: NHL Playoff Predictions: 2011-12 Edition
I don't like Lucic or Marchand either, but I don't see how Toews is better. He's one of the brattier guys in the NHL for sure. I don't think I've seen anyone act so entitled to victory who was so comparatively average as a player. 57 points with top minutes skating beside Sharp, Hossa, and Kane, on an offense-oriented team. So fragile and ineffective on the ice, but still totally convinced he's some kind of phenom, and not at all modest about it. He's the opposite of what hockey is about, never mind Canadian hockey.
I'll take a class act like Thornton or Briere or Stamkos any day. Last edited by Mike Weedmark; 04-17-2012 at 04:01 AM.. |

I agree with the Stamkos choice, the game is everything you want in a tough and dedicated player. Briere is just another one of those guys I threw in the pile with Marchand and Lucic, Thornton (Shawn I'm assuming?) CAN play and I have seen good plays from him recently but up until a year or two ago the guy just drives me crazy with the old 3rd-4th line brute role which I can't stand.
