i don't see anyone noticably changing tone upon getting culted unless they were aiming to kill the CL (but then again why would the CL do that)
i definitely don't see it happening in this game if it's one of the three i suspect (freaky, nawk, storn) due to their claims

I hypothesized that mashi saw scum behavior yesterday from someone on his own team

So during the night he "seered" her and got a result

That would explain his insistence on her scumminess today

If you're implying what I think you're implying then yes, however it would tie into my theory about WIFOM'ing uses coming from the AA Kill, because the players Jrodd, Mashi, and Funny are tied into his death by certain interactions (Funny for nearly hardclaiming but actually went to protect the actual Investigator; Jrodd for his debacle with AA and not having to claim anything like I did because I would fit there too had I not claimed; and Mashi for being the one capable of WIFOM'ing this kill and breadcrumbing a lynch down the road).

if you didn't seriously consider the fact you'd be nightkilled why would you think you'd be "protecting" the inspector?
