the things that overlap between the games are things that are in 90% of jrpgs regardless

in singleplayer games however, there is an END to your game, so you shouldn't unreasonably pad game hours just to stall the player from reaching it. offer challenge, not mindless grinding to be able to finally advance. |

I think this is part of the reason I like it so much. Sci-fi in RPGs is really underdone comparatively- it's always some kind of fantasy, whether it be eastern, western, or final

![]() I would say it can be confusing at times (especially when the runaway 5 is involved) if you don't know exactly what to do, and the part where poo has to finish his training is absolutely brutal
but outside of that I dunno if I can think of anything that would make it as bad as undertale

![]() My experience playing it the first time was really positive, despite the challenge and confusion at times. It felt all that much more rewarding to get through things.

Like a game with great success never gets a cult following, it's largely due to it being "underrated" Also I know it's irrelevant to the game itself but earthbound soundtrack is veryyyy good, the music inspired many artists tbh, I'm a big fan of starship amazing https://youtu.be/6GensEv1l-4 Ok u got me, I'm an earthbound fanboi Last edited by Dinglesberry; 11-29-2018 at 09:15 PM.. |

I think its an amazing game , but it has its flaws, mostly rooted in sticking to conventional and outdated mechanics of older rpgs despite breaking away from other tropes and aspects of them. (especially the menuing. the menuing is fucking awful in mother 1 and 2) also i agree that song is trash Last edited by PixlSM; 11-29-2018 at 10:10 PM.. |

![]() I get what you mean
Having to switch items around between players can get irritating even though it's logical that Jeff can't use a bottle rocket that Paula is holding And limited inventory space is of course just a system limitation

I also remember not being able to buy multiple of the same item at a time, but that may have just been mother 1. its been a while since I've played it

![]() I don't recall an instance where I wanted to buy more than one item at the same time

![]() Night in the woods is a fantastic game with one of the worst endings of all time
Hanging out with socialists and criminals wasn't great either but the rest is A+
