Ok i D/C only at zakum and what is my problem for d/cing. I have...

1.About 7GB of HD space left.
2. 1.5 GB or RAM.
3. An outdated 2004 graphics card that came with my Dell Demension 3000. (Maple really doesnt need a good graphics card does it?)
4. Cable internet (Comcast high speed)
5. 2004 motherboard.

I have defraged my disk, i always scan for viruses/addware, everything. I make sure no programs are running except for maple. I exit most toolbars on my toolbar. I DO NOT know what the deal is. Someone be serious and help me. I need to get a zhelm b4 i end up being a legit zhelmless lvl 120 night lord. >.>

You know what? Just throw your piece of crap out. I got myself a Dell late last year and the only modification I made to it was a new video card, and I only lagged at all when they started bombing (which, as I understand, is not anywhere near as common as it used to be ).

Definitely video card helps though. Why do you think people play with low graphics when they want to minimize lag? It may be 2d, but can you imagine all of those sprites it has to render at once? All of those mobs? All of those objects?

EDIT: In other words, first step to trying to solve the problem is new video card. Do it now.

Do you EVER DC during normal gameplay? Your ISP might just be retarded or something, and if you EVER DC during normal training then that's a good sign that there's nothing you can do on that end. If it's only on Zakum, though, then yeah, graphics card should help.

Actually, MS runs unusually slow. I'm not sure if it's bad programming (probably) or really bad image compression (also pretty likely), but MS should not run nearly as slow as it does. They probably don't use indexed PNGs like they should, they don't do any smart pre-loading (like loading all of Pianus's graphics once you enter the cave right before him, rather than letting you lag to death as soon as you enter his lair), and everybody knows MS is a terrible resource hog (I mean, just try staying alt+tabbed out for an hour or so, even on an empty map). I swear, it's like EA is in charge of MS or something.

But like, just as an example, here's a test shot from the new XNA-based version of my game (MS uses DirectX, I think, which XNA is based on). While I was making the missile weapon I messed up the tracking, which resulted in missiles that just flew in circles:



Every single one of those missiles is creating a smoke puff every .03 seconds, each smoke puff lasts .4 seconds, which means each missile is maintaining about 13-14 smoke puffs onscreen at once. To better see just how many objects were on-screen at once, here's the missiles after I killed their target and they went flying all over:



Now obviously, the little missile graphics and smoke graphics are not as big as the images of Zakum and its summons, but the shear number of objects on-screen is not a problem. The homing missiles also do a lot more calculations than Zakum's monsters probably do (even if, in this example, those calculations are wrong). While doing that the game did not slow down AT ALL. I'm pretty damn sure if I were to up the size of the objects (and thus their filesize) it still wouldn't slow down. And this is me, a beginning programmer doing this. A company like Nexon, who is experienced enough to make an MMO, shouldn't have a problem with a 2D game like MS going slow. =\

2x EXP didn't work last night, which was probably an indication from Nexon telling me to gtfo and spend time with my family, but it's working again.

I can hit Himes, people are willing to party me, and the EXP is retarded, but pot consumption is a bitch, because I can't take a hit without HB. Is it a bad idea to get awesome EXP while losing money? Also, getting raped by Aya's grandfather is NOT fun while checking channels.

If you can afford losing some money while getting awesome exp then yes it is well worth it.

Not at all. The best way to make money is to be a higher level. By losing money to get to a higher level, you can then train on harder stuff that gives tons of cash and remake all the money you lost.
