If you're a stupid clutz, don't get the Wii.
Otherwise you'll end up on this site: http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com and me laughing at you. x) Otherwise, the Wii is a great console. Not the best games, but you get to have the classics if you download. <3 Wii. Oh, and those Wii pics are cute. x) I was gonna make one like that, and one for PS3, though I dun like ps3.

It's not because they're clutzes. It's because they're idiots.
The games with heavy motion sensing mention SEVERAL TIMES that the strap should be on and secured, not to let go of the controller, and to watch out for things around you. |

And that strap, is very thin. x_X;;; but most people don't use it. I don't need it, but to those who easily get into the game, may need to. Bad grip = broken whatever, and it can be your TV. >.>

The strap isn't too thin. I've whipped that thing around like it's a yo-yo and it's never snapped.
In other news: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/13/ni...d-online-play/ Basically says that third party development for online services is a go. Edit: Ok, I think my Wii has serious problems now. I've just extended my warranty another 90 days and I'll be writing them a letter sometime in the near future. WarioWare takes ages to load sometimes and Elebits does not load at all anymore. One of my controllers has loose buttons and something rattles inside when vibration goes off in the other. Freakin' launch day systems =/ Last edited by Squeek; 03-13-2007 at 08:56 PM.. |

As for me, mine still works fine. But I guess I should try to extend my warranty just in case. |

As far as I know, there's no way to check inside the console for dust without opening it. The disc slot has a small rubber cover that makes looking inside very difficult. But... the purpose of that cover is to make sure dust doesn't get inside the console in the first place!
I'll just write a letter. These aren't the only problems I've been having. |

Odd problems, Squeek. Not far off from the problems I've had. Some stuff, like the Everybody Votes Channel, takes an ungodly amount of time to load. It's sporadic, though. And if something isn't loading, simply pressing A solves the problem.
For the love of God, Squeek, do not write a letter. Call customer service. Nintendo has the best phone support team I have ever interacted with ever. Five stars, no question.

Squeek, the eject button never powered down the system for me. I think you'll get a better response from a phone call too, honestly.

Really? For mine, whenever I hit Eject from the console when it was off, it would eject the disc, then turn off. Whenever I put a disc into the console when it was off, it would take it and turn itself on.
Edit: LOTS of Super Paper Mario footage. I really, really want this. http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/clip-...ugh-244050.php Last edited by Squeek; 03-14-2007 at 10:26 AM.. |

Wait, what do you mean by "turn off"? I have WiiConnect24 enabled. If the system was off (meaning no controller input possible), I could eject the disc, and nothing would change. However, putting a disc in would cause the system to turn on. I never tried ejecting a disc while playing a game in the Game Channel, but if I removed a disc while the system was on, in the Wii Menu, the system would eject the disc but remain at the Wii Menu.

In your case with Standby on, it means pressing the eject buttons would cause the light to turn green, eject the disc, then turn back to yellow. The screen with the Health and Safety warning would never show up at all.
I have Standby off, so it's the same concept with red instead of yellow. |

I have been having freezing problems with the trial internet channel. It could be a bug of trial program, but it could be something serious. can't take my chances with my beloved Wii. Also I rented redsteel and I played it for a few days and then it started lagging A LOT one day. I'm pretty sure the next day it was fine, though.
And, on the sonic and the secret rings note, I rented it a couple weeks ago. I thought it was horrible. First of all, the controls are unresponsive, and you practically have to turn the wiimote up-side-down to go backwards. The story is pretty lame. It failed to grab my attention at all. AND THE CUT SCENES WERE PHOTOS IN A BOOK! NO ANIMATION AT ALL IN THE CUT SCENES! The rest of the game was good, but the unresponsive controls and bad story and cutscenes really took away from the experience. I was very disappointed. I believe that game is horrible and should be bought by no-one!!! |

My opinion of the game is quite different.
Firstly the game is quite slow starting, You have to go through a few tutorials to know the controls. Then when you get going Sonic is just slow. The controls are quite sluggish as well. However, I found that these are part of a huge learning curve you don't realise your playing until you get about an hour into the game. The controls are quite weird at first. Although billy no skill above me must not of realised you press 1 to brake the tilt the controller back a little and you walk backwards. They do seem quite sensitive at first but after observing a friend play the game I noticed that the controls do exactly what there told to do, it's just you don't realise how your holding the controller as you are absorbed in the gameplay and speed. For example you subconsciously hold the Wiimote at a slight tilt back, causing alittle confusion, although I'd much rather them to allow lazy hands but there not, you get used to it though. Graphically the game is nice, there are no cutscenes as of yet, I'm about a 3rd into the game. Although the artwork is nice, I kinda prefer this as Sonic doesn't seem like a really bad actor, with his terrible body language and timing. His voice acting seems not to cheesy for some reason in this style. The yarn is span through pictures in a sort of comic format, kinda like Red Steel, XIII and such. I think it's quite effective as if goes hand in hand with arabian nights style story as the pictures are printed in a dusty old book. In game the graphics are lovely, not to shabby at all, there is some room for improvement but that goes without saying. Gameplay wise, It's pretty much what you expect, running, jumping, some form of surfing/boarding/grinding from A to B. Like the other resent Sonic games though there is more to it. For example there are over 100 mission but as you guessed they are "Collect 100 ring" and "Finish within the time limit". There are a few new ones like "Destroy all enemies" and "Don't get defeated", Each world (level) has about 15 missions like this to unlock (and they're not always easy to) including a Boss mission where you fight the boss. Sorta levels in a world just like Monkey ball, you know, 7 levels and a boss level. Something new to the game which I really like is the ring customisation and level system. You can level and gain SP. As you level you gain abilities and SP. These abilities add things to Sonic like mobility in the air and better handling on the ground, Boost start and start off with ring. There are loads, all of them very helpful. SP are Special Points. Each ability is worth so many special points. You have four rings. You place your abilities in these rings, so you can customise and choose what kind of Sonic you want to use for certain levels. However, each ring can only hold so many special points and so, only so many abilities. You have to choose you abilities wisely, as you level you can hold more in each ring though. Now this is what Im talking about, once you get so many abilities and Sonic is fast and very agile (Which takes about as long as the learning curve is) your blitzing through levels. By now you should have the wildfire mode which means you collect orbs in game and use them to boost as break neck speed through levels. Now the game is starting to seem a lot more fun, missions don't seem to be dull anymore, there's finally a fast sonic game. I'm only a third through the game and I can tell you flying through levels is so much fun. Music wise the game is cool, not the best I've heard but some really catchy tunes. Multiplayer wise is ok, it's like a mini Mario Party. You play mini games which involve different motions with the Wiimote to win, thus granting you coins. These coins win you the multiplayer session. Quite fun, although some mini games are really tricky. Overall I give the game a 7/10 I can see the game being quite short but with loads of replay value, they could of made the learning curve loads shorter as it's quite obvious some gamers with short attention spans won't stick with it. The music could be better, story wise the game is all right and gameplay wise there are a few little bugs. On the whole though a great experience, even if the games a late bloomer. I'm buying SSX BLUR next. Can't wait.

Has there been any news on SSBB?
I've been seriously considering buying Melee since I never owned a gamecube, but I don't want to shell out money for a controller, the game, and a memory card if Brawl is on its way soon.

http://www.smashbros.com/en/main.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl And none of those links say anything about a release date. Afro, you might as well, if not just for the GCN games you will want after Melee. Melee is not the best game on GCN. Heck, it's not even in the top-ten games at all. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/default_gc/11 The top ten best-rated Gamecube games (according to that site) were: Metroid Prime 96.3% Resident Evil 4 95.8% Zelda: The Wind Waker 94.7% Soul Calibur II 92.5% SSX 3 92.2% Metroid Prime 2 92.2% Viewtiful Joe 91.6% Prince of Persia 91.6% Madden NFL 2004 91.5% Super Mario Sunshine 91.5% And as it turns out, Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 are in the top five games of all time on that site, but that's probably because game reviewers were few and far between back in the 16-bit era and beyond. But, the column you'll probably want to look at is just to the left of that. The top ten most popular Gamecube games. Resident Evil 4 95.8% Zelda: Twilight Princess 95.9% Metroid Prime 96.3% Super Smash Bros. Melee 90.0% Zelda: The Wind Waker 94.7% Tales of Symphonia 85.7% Paper Mario 88.0% Super Mario Sunshine 91.5% Baten Kaitos Origins 76.8% Skies of Arcadia Legends 85.5% Wow Skies of Arcadia is on that list rofl. Pick up Tales, Baten Kaitos (the first is good, but apparently the second [the prequel] is better), Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, and Resident Evil 4 for sure. That will go well with your copy of Melee. As I discovered in my search for PS2 accessories, shipping online is HARSH. You'd be much better off finding a site with free shipping, getting them in stores, or finding a huge bundle of accessories / games all together. Even so, memory cards for gamecube are CHEAP. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=...line&scoring=p I did this search with PS2's 8MB card and every site wanted $20+ for it! First result is a reputable source selling it for $3.50! I don't know what the shipping is though. Look into it more. Plus, this is the smallest memory card (and I don't think you'll need a bigger one, personally). None of the games should be more than $20 in stores as new. You could probably get them used for $7-10 each if you shop around. ps - Wii just sold its 6 millionth And the DS is about to hit 40,000,000. Last edited by Squeek; 03-15-2007 at 12:13 PM.. |

It was rumored for a Spring release.
Galaxy and MP3 were slated for Spring, but MP3 might not be coming out for a while. All three are confirmed for 2007 though. Oh, and even though you don't want to know, Origins and Arcadia are RPGs. And you judge games too quickly. You know that, right? ARRGH Metroid Prime is an FPS I don't care that it's a Metroid game and I might've loved all of the previous games but NOES ITS TEH FPSZZZZZZZZ Even Moogy played Metroid Prime and loved it, and he NEVER plays FPS games. Come on now. ARGGH 3D ZELDA I HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES OH NOEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Tales? I don't even know what you meant with that one. Do you or do you not know everything? If you knew everything, you'd know you can get it for like $15 now. Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario are totally different games. Thousand Year Door is a turn-based RPG, while SPM is a side-scrolling platformer. ZOMG WATER PACK IT IS TEH RUINED ZOMG TWO OF THE MOST POPULAR GAMES AND I DONT KNOW THEM LET'S DISREGARD THEM OK BYE Last edited by Squeek; 03-15-2007 at 12:44 PM.. |
